First post here! Can anyone tell me how you can get the binary files off a 48-n-1 board onto a computer?

Goal: To take the best games off a 39-n-1 pcb and a 48-n-1 pcb and combine them onto 1 board. I have games like Tetris on one, but not on the other.

Any ideas?

AFAIK 48in1's include all the games of the 39in1's. But either way, I don't know of the ROMs being dumped off these, although I'm sure someone has done it. I did look at one of the boards once... there's a socketed EPROM on some of them (which would be really easy to dump), but I believe most of the data is on a 16mbit 3.3V TSOP Flash chip under the plastic cover. I was thinking about picking one of them up to hack so I could make a horizontal multigame (like the one that used to be available only in the 9in1), but I haven't bothered yet.

The same games are not on these....I have access to the Zaxxon, Tetris, Liberator, Crystal Castles, Etc. That I'd like the 39 board to have. Dump some off like Mappy, Phoenix, etc.

Anyone know of software to see the files on these boards?

i don't know much about this stuff but are they custom roms or something? couldn't you just download the rom images from a mame site?

I don't know much about MAME. This runs with a jamma connection on a PCB, not a computer.

Discussed numerous times: It IS mame, an old version at that, just with a custom jamma board. It is a micro-ATX style computer running DOS and mame, just cleverly hidden but can be accessed using the right tools.

either way, i assumed the roms on the mame sites are just dumps anyway (regardless if they're used in conjunction with a mame emulator or not, they're still the actual rom images), so i think they should be what you're after

do a google search for mame roms and you should find a lot of rom images

The 48 in 1 boards are a single 5" by 5" circuit board. The 1000 in 1 boards use a computer board mounted to a JAMMA interface board.

That's my question...What iare the right tools to get this information off the boards?

Hmm... that's interesting, I always thought they just added games, not replaced any. But isn't it vertical? How would you play Tetris, Liberator, or Crystal Castles? Either way, I don't believe there's an easy way to add games. You may want to email CDS from this thread though: http://groups.google.com/group/rec.games...9d536a6189b283? ... it sounds like he knows a little about these. I don't think you'll be able to do anything without pulling the TSOP flash chip though.

I have been driving myself nuts with this. The games are suported by a vertical monitor, see link above. Would like to find a way to get these files. I have only heard of people adding games also, just would like to have 1 board with the games I like.

If you think the foundry level is cool. Wait until you see the D2K.

Does look cool!

Still does not answer my original question....How can ou take the binary files off a Multicade board?

If you go to arcade shop's link you would download Menusys version 2.2 and you need a serial cable to connect a windows 98 or XP machine to the PCB. From there you can CHOOSE which vertical or horizontal games you want on the board. I believe you can only use the games they support. So if you setup a Multiwilliams machine and only want 2-3 of the williams games then you just upload those 2-3 games. The arcade shop PCB only load vertical or horizontal games but not at the same time.

Check out this post...

There is a link to where you can download the ROMS... However, you need to own the games to download and legally use them...

Now we're getting somewhere. I already have that site, and saw that they have those games to download. I already have 2 Multicade boards that have different games on them. The link you showed has some of the games I want. My boards have others I want to keep, such as Galaga and Galaga 3.

How can I read my board and download the ROMs from my mulicade pcb to have in the list with Menusys?

That's a completely different board. That's the Programmable Multi-Game JAMMA board from Arcadeshop. Are you talking about that board, or the 48-in-1 bootleg board with the games pre-loaded like from http://www.lizardlickamusements.com/pages/multi_jamma_faq.shtml ? The arcadeshop board is reprogrammable, the other one isn't (without doing some hacking).

I think it's the bootleg then...It is not like the first one, has the same games as the second! Anything I can do to take these games off and reprogram?

I think I will settle to just add a double jamma harness and be able to play both boards. Didn;t think it was this complicated. Thanks all.
