Just wondering...

I bought a 48-in-1 jamma board with a cabinet from a private dealer. It came with a control panel that had 8 buttons and 2 joysticks.

This is fine, but you must play Centipede, Millipede, Arkanoid and Super Breakout with a joystick, and that's no fun!

I saw an advertisement for a 60-in-1 jamma board. I understand that it's just the upgrade from the one I own with only a few more games in it (such as Gunsmoke - the rest are all 1943 Kai, and fast Ms. Pac-Man).

Anyway, this 60-in-1 came with a track ball installed. I am wondering, is the 48-in-1 pcb able to support a track ball? Or was the track ball feature an upgrade for the 60-in-1 pcb?

If my 48-in-1 will support a track ball, I'm going to be in the market for a new control panel I think!

Nope, no trackball support with the 48 in 1. Sorry. :( PM Nixs, he sells 60 in 1's for a good price ($110 shipped I think). You can probably sell your 48 for fify or sixty bucks to recoup some of the cost...

Alright - that's what I thought.

Since I've never done this before - how would I go about getting a new control panel for my current cabinet after I upgrade to the 60-in-1 pcb?

Would it have to be custom made for my exact size with a certain amount of space for the ball and certain amount of buttons and joysticks that I need?

How do you go about getting a new control panel?

What sort of cabinet is your 48-1 board in?

I suggest getting a blank trackball CP with the multicade overlay. Its cheaper to assemble one yourself rather than paying the 175 price tag for the complete CP.

These CP specs are identical to pac/galaga control panels. Ive purchased over 100 of these from arcadeshop and never had any problems.

Is this the panel you were thinking of? I do like the layout of this one...but again, the $200 price tag...

Also, my 48-in-1 is in what I think is an old centipede cabinet.

The complete arcadeshop panel comes with a WICO trackball which I didn't like as much as a HAPP one. More fun to build your own. I also really recommend the ultimarc mag stick plus with the ability to switch between 4 & 8 way mode from above the panel. As talked about in other threads, it not only goes from 4 to 8 way, but the restrictor plate changes which makes it have the feel of a 4 way also.... much better on pacman and such. (to switch you pull up on the ball and twist, very easy to do)
