Man, they sure don't make these arcade boards like they used too huh? :).

Anyway, I have had this 48-1 for several years and out of the blue it just stopped working. I get a Red light on LED 1. No image on the screen.

Can these be fixed, or is it better to scrap them to buy a newer one?

If they can be fixed, anyone have any work logs or advice on where to start? I did pull of the main IC and reseated it.

Before it completely crapped out it seemed to take an extra minute or two to boot up, but it would eventually start up. Now I have let it sit for 10-15 minutes and nothing.

Thanks.

Check the voltages from the switcher. They can drift or go out and the board won't boot.

Actually, I don't think you even need a full +12V. My Gaplus cabinet has a power issue and only puts out about 5V on the 12V line, and a 48-in-1 (via a JAMMA cabinet adapter) works great in it.

I have a non-working 48 in 1 on my bench too. I was going to start diagnosing it this winter to try and bring it back to life.

My strategy was going to be to buy a working one just like it and start swapping IC's until I zero in on the bad one(s). Maybe some day I'll invest in an oscilliscope.

Thanks guys. I took it home and put it on my test bench and it fired right up, so I think it probably is the power. I will report back what I find out.

Being they only cost $90 now a days most repair guys won't waste their time on em. There is alot of surface mount components and tiny traces that are just too difficult to work on. Pretty much throw away parts like computer motherboards.
