Im working on a super pac pcb which i almost have fully working. I found a bad eprom at 3c. On my other super pac boards it takes a 2732 eprom but the eprom that came on this board says 4708-6 and under that it says 8002 wp. Did someone just stick this in the socket to make the board look complete or will this eprom work on this board. Here is a link of what one looks like if it helps http://cgi.ebay.com/1Kx8-4708-6-AM4708-AMD-Vintage-Cerdip-D2708-2708D-/390121531974

That eprom won't work.

It's a 1Kb eprom , unlike a 2732 which is 4Kb.

In fact, I've never even seen a 4708 eprom.

I suspect it probably similar to a 2708,
but doesn't need the crazy 3-voltage input
(...sort of like Intel 2716 and TMS-2716 ).

You need to correct 2732 eprom at 3C.

If only you know someone who programmed eproms....

BTW, if you say you have other Super Pac boards,
just swap the 3C eprom around to see if it works....

Cheers,

Thanks for the info. I actually did swap the eprom from the other board and it works fine. I was just curious if the 4708 would work. I bought 2 board sets on ebay and i guess they just stuck that eprom in there so it looked complete. It a good thing a have some blank 2732

It's probably some variant of the 2708 that is OTP... Intel had some that were different #s but were OTP versions of the 2708. They painted the tops black. I think it was just a chip that wasn't made quite right and wouldn't erase once programmed. ;)

I read somewhere that you can erase those odd Intel ones with high doses of X-Rays, but I don't have access to anything that would do that... and I doubt it's legal. ;)
