Recapping a 4600 and got my kit from mikes...it want's me to install the potentiometer on the solder side of the board? why is that? the pot is a (L) shape right now, not like the original......

also the 2 caps on that video board dont get replaced? i had no caps for it.

and the R360 resistor, should i replace mine even if it ohms out ok?

1) Let's see a pic of the pot you got and the one on the board.

2) Sounds like you have one of the later input boards. Some kits don't include both caps for it, as the more common board only has one cap.

3) As was mentioned above, it is mounted on the opposite side to make it easier to access...

If you have a P317 or P318 video interface card then don't bother to replace the black level pot or the capacitors on it. These boards are laid out differently than the earlier versions.

its a P317, here's the pics......according to ken i wont replace the pot or the 2 caps....

Don't replace the pot, no. But if you have those caps new, nothing wrong with replacing them...

That POT would not even work on that board.

With 4600's there were at least 3 designs of the board in the pic, one of them that POT fits on, this particular one it does not. I've had both boards myself, but upgraded to the one you have.
