4600 issue..trying to work up from Noobie status =)

Alright.. so I just did battle with a couple WG6100s and got those working which included Bob Roberts delux kit..flybacks..mini LV2000 boards and of course the chassis mounted transistors. Both those guys are running nicely.

So this weekend I had the nieces over and the 4600 in my Gorf went poof...No big deal as I knew it was on it's way out and had pre-orded a cap kit from BR. Before it went the monitor had the shakes and the left side had a pretty good roll in it on the left side. I was actually watching it went it went..it did a 'big' left to right shake..then everything went blue..then gone.

So I pulled it last night and capped it..cleaned up the guns with the rejuvenator (which tested nicely after it was done) and I still have about the same issue.

Here's what I have so far.

Power the game on and the screen does 'flash' for a split second then nothing. If it's the first time I power the game on after sitting for about 10 minutes I'll get that blue screen again for about 2-3 second...then it goes away.

If I turn the game off and on real quick I don't get the blue screen..just the flash when I turn it both off and on. I have neck glow and can here the monitor crackle and turn on..game still plays blind

I'm not really sure where to start but I do have another 4600 in my robotron that I could swap around the 3 boards.

It there a trouble shooting FAQ like the 6100 has?

Else where do I start with this guy? I've read the fly backs are pretty much bulletproof in these guys

Edit to add..All wires and pins were reflowed on all 4 boards

If your Robotron has reliable daughter cards try swapping them out to see if the problem lies in those. Most likely it's the right card (Vert\Horz PCB??) It's the one that is usually dark brown. There is a POT in a box on that board you can turn through a hole on the chassis frame. I've fixed a few with sync type problems messing with that POT.

Yep.. left it on the outside too. The BR kit instruction said you could relocate it on the inside. Being this is a vertical monitor it seem pretty easy to get to where it was..so I left it.

I did give that some random turns and didn't get any different results

Did you change the black level pot?
