I have a 4600 in a defender. It needed capped. I capped it very carefully. When powered up, cap 503 on the power supply board explodes with quite a pop. Thats the little pcb on the side of the chassis. I checked the hots and they were fine, no shorts. The fuses were all good too. I replaced the cap and it blew again???

Its in backwards or it is under valued in voltage for it to do that.

It is the right cap and it is in correctly.

Is the board off a pin connecting to the main chassis? I thought they are keyed but check.
If it did not blow before you did the cap kit i would look for solder bridges then also.
Is this going back in the same game or is this being used without a isolation trans.?
If it was working before the cap kit was done and all you did was that, then your going to have to check even closer what you did.

That would be my guess too. You can plug them in one pin off. And the solder bridge is also possible. If it worked before the cap kit but not after it's most likely something you did and the solder bridge could be anywhere on the monitor where you soldered not just on that board.
