As some may know Im an apartment maintenance supervisor and i come across stuff pretty regularly. So yesterday morning there was this tv sitting next to the dumpster,as we all here know it was raining cat's and dog's yesterday so this thing got soaked.Im not sure what kind it is and i dont have pics but its in great cosmetic condition made in 2006 no remote.Anyway's i put it in my shop with the idea to let it sit for a few days to dry out but one of my guys plugged it in and it fried, there was a loud "POP" then smoke everywhere. The monitor looks good not sure if its good for anything,if no one wants it ill drop it in the dumpster.

42" tv...

All the parts are available. The pop was probably a cap blowing up though fuses can blow too.

Open it up, look for the obvious. Dry it out as much as possible before trying it again.

Read up about "capacitor plague" it's a great story of corporate spies and happens to be true. My whole house is filled with lcd tvs I got nonworking off craigslist and fixed for $10 in capacitors...

Worst case you can sell it an still get like $50 if the screen is not cracked.

Well Ive already offered it for free, plus i dont want to fool with it.

No its not a samsung,i think its a rio or something.

a free $20

Glad it worked out. A free $20 is always nice!

By the way you should still read up on "capacitor plague". It's a cool true story. Basically all electronics made from 2000-2007 have faulty capacitors. Dead computers tvs etc. All easily fixable with a few new caps. I have a house full of stuffI got free or cheap off Craigslist and fixed...
