There are some games on this that should be playable. I have a cocktail that as of 9 years ago was brand new (don't laugh) and have read the 412 isn't just plug n play. Has that been corrected or some things still need to be done?

are you referring to the way the game elf prefers a physical ground to string from both sides of the jamma connector?
Other than that it is same plug n play as other chinese multiboards.

lots of great emulations.
i think it does great on the alternate titles like tut, journey, roc n rope, arabian, circus charlie.
a ton of filler junk to turn off and forget.
for example, centipede is bad with trackball. arkanoid is decent with trackball.
 
I read you can't just put the jamma board in and everything works perfect. You've got to do something to a couple of pins. But this was older info, didn't know if things had changed.

I read you had to block a couple of pin holes. So that's still the same?
What site would you recommend purchasing this multi board from?

all i recall is making sure to string a wire between both sides of the connectors grounds. and that is what the jamma harness from holland does.
 
Thx for your help. It's a small price to pay to have a handful of more games than the 60-1 has. I'm going to pull the trigger on this. Thx
 
qbert and zoo keeper are also decent enough for a good dose of fun.
One of my friends was impressed with Time Tunnel.

I got so F'n irritated with BluePrint I had to stop playing it. Shouldn't be that hard to clear one maze.
 
I'll have to check that game out. The last time I got irritated is when I discovered Bagman on my 60-1 (never played it before) and couldn't believe how hard that was!!
 
a sleeper on the pcb is Robby Roto.
It is actually rather fun, I played it a few days once I figured out how the game worked.
I've never seen a working Robby Roto in the retro scene, just machines with dead pcbs.
 
I picked one of these up recently. Pins 26 and 27 on some Jamma harnesses are sometimes wired to ground. This board uses these for "buttons", so having a ground there makes the board think there are stuck buttons and it won't work properly. Simply disconnecting the wires from these locations will resolve the issue.

I am actually working on creating a spreadsheet with all of the games, type of joystick needed and number of buttons required for each game. It's a bit time consuming, but in the end it'll give me a better idea as to which games to turn off in the menu (i.e. removing Trackball games, ones with 3 buttons as my cab is only setup for 2 buttons per player, dual joystick games). I can then compare it to the 60n1, and likely have 1 cab for 4way games and another for 8way.

ps- since this pcb can have the horizontal sd card swapped in.
i messed a lot with the joystick/button layout on that pcb.
it seems to work best with 2 joysticks and 6 buttons per joystick.

relates to the fighting games.
 
1500, I'm limited on my cocktail. No trackball and 3 buttons. Fighting games are not my thing, my son likes them though. I'll have to make the best of it.

No problem. I am about 1/2 way through the list. I will make the spreadsheet available for anyone who wants it. It's nice. Super basic, but you can sort the results, and it makes it much easier to configure. I went through my board turning games off, but after going through my list I figured out WAY more games SHOULD be turned off unless you are opting for the 3 million button control panel.

i.e.- most of the pinball games use no joystick and 3 buttons. Even if you have 3 buttons, the natural placement makes the game way harder and not very enjoyable.

I was also amazed at how many games used Trackball/Rotary controls. WAY too many of the games have nearly zero information for controls in arcade-museum,

I had to use a completely different site to fill in the blanks for over half the games that didn't have info on arcade-museum.com. Man, it showed me how pitiful the database really is and how much work it needs. Sad the powers-that-be turn such a blind-eye to such a useful tool, especially when there are plenty of folks here willing to chip in.

To be honest, the horizontal fighting games work because they are missing lots of frames. not very smooth. but all the younger kids still seem to like it. the hit on that pcb seems to be simpsons.


joystick and 3 buttons is what i went with, too. Tut is an example that uses 2 buttons for left/right and the 3rd button for bomb.
emulation is pretty darned good on Tut.
 
One thing we should note is that many people have had to adjust their monitors to work with this board. Even after adjustments, some (me at least) have curl issues at the top of the screen. It's noticeable in the menu but not during gameplay.
