4 slot Neo Geo Not keeping High Scores anymore

It's one of 2 things... either the game isn't played enough to keep the battery charged or you have a bad battery on the board.

Let the thing run for 24 hours straight, play a game, and then see if it saves it overnight. If it does you are good to go. If not, put a new battery in it.

You have to take out 5 screws around the edge of the board to take the top metal cover off. Next, take out 2 long screws from the slots area - usually on one side of slot one and the other side of slot two. Then there are 5 long but very skinny screws/nuts holding the upper and lower board connectors together. Take those off then you can separate the two board halves.

If you need any other help, give me a PM or an email. Neo Geo board repairs are my specialty.

Thanks!

It took a bit of time, but I figured it would help folks.

Dang! my puter did'nt like that site completely locked it up. Any other sites that might have information on this? Where is the best place too buy the replacement? I'm pretty sure the battery is toast.

The only time it's saved scores is when i had the machine on for like 2 hours.
next time i turned on the machine scores where there *was shocked*

Then played a couple games then turned it off and then came back 2 hours later turn it on again. Scores are gone

I have'nt done anything too the machine yet. Is the Battery just a pull and remove?

That PDF he linked to explains what you need to know. It has a bunch of pictures in it and that is why the file size is about 1.4MB. If you are browsing the Internet on anything made after 2000 you should be able to download and view that document just fine. Of course if your on dial-up, it would take a while.

nope i've never been able too open of view those kind of pages on this Puter. I have DSL.

Can one one of the WA guys print it out and give it to you?

Seriously though, dowload and install Adobe Acrobat. If you really can't get the doc loaded, might be able to distill it to images or something for you.

Here it is as images. Props again to Channelmanic for putting this together. You really do need to fix your computer so you can read PDF files. Do you buy original manuals for all of your games? I couldn't make it without PDF files.

You don't necessarily need Acrobat. It is bloated and installs all sorts of other crap on your computer. Try Foxit reader, Cutepdf, OR pdf factory as substitutes. Pretty sure the first 2 are free.

Well, if you want a recommendation... Get a Mac. It natively supports reading and creating PDF files. :)

For some reason it's remembering scores now I'm alittle bit confused by this.

Sometimes it does maybe if the game is left on for an hour or so?

I have forgotten how to do the settings for each of the slots .

It's a rechargeable battery. If you don't play it enough the battery won't have a charge and won't save a game.

The responses on this thread make me think they are smoking a little too much Yerba Buena up there in Washington....

You know i saw that before but did'nt think anything of it becouse i used too play a couple games then turn the machine off and scores would be there.

High Scores would be there intell i changed carts in slots or settings .

or it would only save scores on Certain slots?

Why make remarks about Drugs I've even done any drugs in my live and i'm very Proud of that.

Very rude.

Follow Channelmanic's suggestion and see if you can build up enough charge in the battery to save your scores.
