I just recently purchased a 4 player NBA Jam arcade cabinet and it came with a 4 player Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles JAMMA board. everything works great except I can not figure out how to get players 3 and 4 to work for turtles. The coin slots only give credits to players 1 and 2. I know this is the 4 player version not the 2 player. players 3 and 4 say insert coins but I cannot give credit to these players. Any help on the matter would be much appreciated.

The jamma harness only connects players 1 and 2. Do you have the 3 and 4 player harness hooked up? 3 and 4 have their own that plug into the board and coin switch.

Where can I get one of these harnesses, and where does it plug in to?

Bob Roberts sells them as well as a few other online retailers. They are normally referred to as Konami kick harnesses or Konami plus harnesses.

How many coin slots do you have? You will need four different slots in order to coin up the four different turtles. If you have four slots currently you will need to rewire the coin door to accept the P3 and P4 inputs. This will disable the third and fourth coin slots when using the NBA Jam PCB unless you do some creative wiring.

There are only 2 coin slots on the nba jam machine. Will this prevent me from being able to play 4 player turtles?

Yes and no... You can either install a four player door, or you can just wire in extra switches/buttons in order to make it work.

If your desire is to drop coins to start a game then you will need the bigger door. If you just want to play the game then you can either wire in the extra buttons or just put the game on 'free play' so there is no need to coin up, just press start. Free play will take away the need for extra buttons...

If nba jam has start buttons, you could wire up the coin up to the start buttons. I thnk that would work pretty well.

I am new to the arcade world and don't have very much knowledge of the wiring and such. How easy of a task would it be to hook some buttons up for players 3 and 4 to get credits once I have the wiring harnesses for the extra players? I am not a total noob to wiring in general, I am pretty good with a solder gun, I just don't want to screw anything up. Also I am looking at the turtles jamma board, where would the harnesses for players 3 and 4 hook up? and is this connection going to need to be something that is permanent as I would like to easily be able to switch back and forth between turtles and nba jam.

Here is a pic of a TMNT board, the two white headers in the upper right corner of this pic are where player three and four connect. These are not permanent connections.

I can't say how you would connect the P3/P4 harnesses in your cab without seeing some pics, but you should be able to make it something that you can rewire fairly easily by tapping into the molex connector that should already be on the control panel of your machine.

Okay now I'm a little confused, after looking at the picture I examined my board and I have some connectors in those slots for players 3 and 4, but they do not go to anything, they have very short wires coming off of them connecting on side of prongs to the other, any ideas what this is?

Are the prongs quick disconnects? Do they look like the plastic and metal pieces that are currently wired to your control panel switches and joysticks?

If you don't understand the question can you snap a pic?

I have no clue, you could post a picture that might help id it.

Either way, you need to buy a 3 and 4 player harness

I am currently at work but will post a pic here in an hour or two. Thank you for all the quick responses you have been a big help. I was up all night last night tryin to figure out why I couldn't play 4 player turtles.

The harness on a factory TMNT are split in the middle with molex connectors. As in half the length of the harness is connected to the board, the other half is connected to the controls/coin door and they plug together.

You'll just need the control/coin door halves then I would imagine, and they connect to their respective controls/switches with your regular quick disconnects on the tabs.

No soldering required here, just the right connector(s).

Edit: Nevermind, I'm kind of wrong...the harness is full length, the molex is right near all the controls. A separate run from the connector at the board, and molex is down at the bottom is for coin door. You don't HAVE to put a molex at the controls, you could just put QD's right on the harness wires if you so choose. But it is easier to remove and swap a harness to another game with matching molex connector.

I snapped a couple pictures of the Turtles JAMMA Board. I'm not sure what these connectors in the slots for players 3 and 4 do.
