4 player suggestions? Just bought a JAMMA+ Red Tent Vs with 3 buttons per player

Heya. I just got a Red Tent system in fair to decent shape (one great monitor, one decent one with Tennis burn) that has been rewired for JAMMA, had an extra button installed per player and is currently running the X-Men beat 'em up. Although, I'm a big comic nerd, I'm not exactly a fan of these redundant fighters. The smushed 3rd button (to the right of the others, same spacing) is pretty ugly but it's already there and I'm not too technically savvy. I'm thinking of temporarily putting NBA Jam or something similar in there for some 4 player trash talking. Is there a four player multiboard that would run NBA Jam at a decent clip? Could I get four spinners and make a franken Warlords? A JAMMA board with Wrecking Crew, Ballon Fight and some other VS. games would be great but I haven't been able to find anything.

Any input would be appreciated and again, don't kill me, I bought it this way.

Get Balloon Fight & Ice Climbers in that thing immediately.

If you got run and gun, you wouldn't have to get an amp or anything to run 4 players on 2 screens. But, it's still a bad conversion. De-convert that red tent, and put the goonies in it

If you were interested in turning it back into a Red Tent there have been some machines parted by the arcade boneyard guy. If they are running the original monitors at least part of the transformer assembly must still be there to supply the 100 volts. The easiest games to swap out would be other 4 player Konami games since the extra wiring for players 3 and 4 should be the same or damn close between games. NBA Jam has a different wiring pinout for players 3 and 4. You could always make up some different adapters for different games and use molex connectors to make them easy to change.

Most underrated basketball game ever. I'll be a happy man...and never play another basketball game again...when I find one of the dual monitor units.

...but yeah. What a bizarre set up. I'd just convert it back to a Nintendo sit-down.

Ultimately, I think I'd like to pick up the parts to get some of the dual screen Nintendo games. Some of the more traditional NES ones don't excite me as much as Balloon Fight and the other dual exclusives like Wrecking Crew. Also, Tennis and other 4-player games would be a high priority (baseball?).

Although, I'm not sure I'm up to the challenge at the moment. I'm still pretty green and I know I can swap a JAMMA board so I'd like to do something cheap, easy and party friendly for now. I had forgotten all about Run n' Gun, I'm going to check eBay for that and some other Komani 4-players. It's a shame about the different wiring for NBA Jam and some others, I didn't know that but I also know I don't want to bastardize this poor guy any further.

IMO, 1 or 2 is good (with 2 having more updated bells and whistles). I have both boards and usually have a difficult time choosing which one I wanna play. I'm just saying, don't feel like you're missing out if you feel you'd rather get the cheaper board out of the two. Ultimately, I'd like to find a dedicated dual monitor RnG and just have it running both. :)

Good luck with this one. I'm sure it will be a cool restore.

Did run n' gun have a dedicated 2 monitor cab? If so, why include a fully functional jamma board for 3 and 4 layer with the main board instead of just a monitor adapter and a couple wiring harnesses for p3 and p4?

Edit: nevermind... saw the cabinet. Still though... why have 2 jamma harnesses if it's all in one cab?

Also, if you do decide to get run and gun, buy one WITH THE HARNESS AND PCB FOR P3 AND P4. If you don't, I doubt you will find one for sale by itself, and then you'll be stuck with just 2 players.
