I aquired a 4 player Atari Football project. (Thanks RetroACTIVE)

This weekend I decided to rebuild and clean the trackballs. I feel like an expert on them after doing it 4 times. :D

I attached some pictures of some of the assembly. All 4 trackballs have brand new rollers, bearings, and balls.

This game is going to be awesome when finished!

What's your technique for cleaning the metal parts & the Trak-Ball itself? I'm rebuilding my Missile Command one and had to purchase #8-32 hex cap screws from Grainger as some goombah tore it down in the past and substituted other hardware. LMK if you need some of these screws as I ordered a 100 count pack.
Also, where did you get the shaft & bearing kits? Bob R?

I installed new rollers, bearings, and balls... for all 4 trackballs.
The original balls were in pretty bad shape with lots of gouges on them.

For cleaning, I soaked all the screws, washers, nuts, etc. in WD-40 to get rid of surface rust. I used Simple Green to clean all the main pieces. I also used a light sanding sponge on them as well. (I didn't sand the top plexi piece.)

I got the 4 rebuild kits along with the whole game project. They were purchased from Ram Controls a few years ago (before the meltdown).

Thanks for the offer of the extra hardware. Fortunately, all 4 of my trackballs were complete. Only one of the plexi pieces was cracked, but still usable.

IIRC I got my kits from twisted quarter, easy to rebuild, and RIPTOR carrys the encoder boards for them for cheap, I rebuilt my MC ball recently too..
