As someone who isn't a fan of FPS/RPG games, can anyone recommend some 3rd Person Action/Adventure/Platforming PS3 titles? I *think* Uncharted is one, and Heavy Rain may be another, but I'm so far out of the console loop that I don't know. What are you guys' favorites?

I'm tired of MW2 and BC2 already.

Uncharted and Uncharted 2, Heavy Rain, God of War III (comes out next week), God of War Collection (if you didn't already play 1 & 2 on the PS2), LittleBigPlanet (those are all Sony 1st party titles)

If you just want to see the reviews of all PS3 games, here's the metacritic list:

Sweet, thanks. That should keep me plenty busy.

Ive come to the realization that I need to stop online gaming. I buy games strictly because my friends have them, only play online, and never see what the game/story is all about. I feel like Im wasting money. Online gaming will be put on hold for the time being. Its time to actually PLAY these games.

I'll second everything on osver's list and add Folklore and MGS4. You should probably read a bit online about these two games before you buy though since they might not be your cup of tea, especially Folklore. I really liked Folklore though.

After reading about these games, I'm starting with the Uncharted series. I'm all about killing Pirates :)

I just got Uncharted, and it's Tomb Raider with a guy thus far. Which is great, if you like Tomb Raider.

Heavy Rain has a demo on the PSN, so download it & check it out. I'm not sure what genre it is, but get the free demo and decide for yourself.

Never played Tomb Raider. Up until about 3 years ago, all I played were sports games. I'm a n00b when it comes to all of this shit.

All the non gamers, casual gamers, and hard core gamers I work with like Uncharted, so it's a safe bet you'll like it. God of War is more for the hard core. LittleBigPlanet is more casual / platform fan. Heavy Rain's like playing through a Film Noir story.

The Uncharted games are definitely Tomb Raider-like with respect to subject matter, but I think the games are quite different, especially with respect to difficulty. Not that Tomb Raider games are that hard, but the Uncharted games are very easy.

You can't go wrong starting with Uncharted 1 and 2 though. Good games and probably really cheap by now.

Also, stay far away from Lair. It's probably better now that they have added analog stick controls, but I can't get myself to stick it back in.

1 is $25 used, and $29 new.

Looks like 2 is still $60.

I'm gonna play 1 first though, so no biggie.

Yeah, I agree here. I always hated TR games, but Uncharted is by and far one of my favorites series ever now, despite how linear and easy they are. Voice acting is top notch, as are the cinematics, then great gameplay and good controls are like icing on the cake. You're good to start with the first one, though, as they improved the controls in 2, so playing 2 first would make 1 seem off. That's not to say the controls in 1 are bad, they're just better in 2.

I would also like to add Assassin's Creed 1 and 2 to this list, though they're not PS3 exclusive. As you can tell here, I've spent plenty of time on them and enjoyed them greatly.

If the next Prince of Persia game is more like the Sands of Time series (like it's supposed to be, since it's in that timeline), it should be more than worth your time when it comes out.

Remember Beyond Good and Evil? Now thats a game that needed a sequel. What an awesome game.

Picking up Uncharted 1 on the way home. Hope to get a few hours in tonight. Man, I haven't been this excited about console gaming in a long time.

Yeah I've got Beyond Good and Evil for the Gamecube around here somewhere. Well I guess it only came out for the Gamecube. You are aware that they are currently working on a sequel, right?

It came out on GC, PS2, Xbox, and PC ;)

Really? What the hell was I thinking about then? I don't know. Maybe I thought that cause I always see used copies of Beyond Good and Evil when I look through used GC stuff, but I don't recall ever seeing a copy of it for Xbox or PS2. Then again, I don't usually look through the used Xbox and PS2 stuff much. For some reason I still look through the used GC stuff though. I'm still picking up games for GC. Just picked up Wario World a couple weeks ago.

Speaking of games that need sequels, there is no other game that deserves a sequel as much as Eternal Darkness. That game was simply amazing and I would kill for a sequel. Unfortunately, it will either never happen or Dyack will announce it and it will be in development limbo for 10+ years.

I'm with you on that, what a great game.

Spent about an hour and a half with Uncharted 1 last night. What a cool game. Love the story so far, and I just got to the part where they found the ship in the river (or wherever it was). Looking forward to spending more time with this game. It sure is purdy, too.
