Hey guys,

I'm looking for some advice. This weekend I am going on an arcade haul and bringing back a Red Z 3Koam with UMK3 and a non working Operation Wolf. The Wolf I plan on fixing and selling but the Z back, I am having a difficult time deciding on what to do with it. I currently have one in my collection that has been restored to SF2 Hyper Fighting and really love the shape of the cab so much, I would like to add a second to the line up, but which game do I drop in it? All I can picture these cabs playing is SF2. I don't care for any MK after the first so the board and control panel are being yanked and sold.

I thought about restoring it to a Hyper Fighting and selling it but these cabs are so difficult to find up here, I am really trying to justify keeping it :)

Would it be silly to paint the cab Capcom Blue with white T moulding and restoring it to a Champion's Edition seeing I already have a SF2 Hyper?

Please Help!!!! LoL

Thanks in advance.

If you like shooters, rotate the monitor and set it up for shooters. No reason to sell the CP when it is good for plenty of games, just not SF layout. I've seen alot of gun games in the zback as well.

CE's came in red z-backs too so just make it one of those and stick it next to the hyper fighting...no need to make it blue etc.

Thanks KidVidiot. I only thought of paint it blue because the only difference between the Hyper and CE aside from the board, is the marquee. Everything else is the same :(

Congrats!

I was lucky enough to find a red Z-back too which currently has Hyper-fighting in it and I plan to make it a nice SF2:CE again.

I'm not sure what I would do with a 2nd one but making a vert shmup cab would be cool. Not sure about what game/art package though.

Great looking cab!

A vertical set up with shooters is something I don't have in my collection but the only shooters I really play or played, was R Type, Thunder Force ETC and those were horizontal shooters. Artwork yes, for shooters is another challenge. I just think it would be silly to make another SF out of it when I already own one.

Decisions, decisions :)

It's killing me that I haven't been able to find a decent red z-back. All the ones I come across have either had significant portions painted black or are water damaged to hell.

Oh don't feel bad, it took me years to find mine and came across it by fluke. All I got was an empty shell with a monitor too. Here in Canada, they are a lot harder to find than the US. They seem to be everywhere there.

Well, since Silvereagle already has one z-back, the *right* thing for him to do is ship it back to CA for you, KidVidiot! :D

The kinda sad thing is, if you just fixed and tried to sell the z-back as a dedicated SF2:CE, I doubt too many would be appreciative of the opportunity. But I would hope to be wrong.

Not a chance LOL.

On the sale topic, yes and no. It all depends on who buys it. If it's someone who just wants a SF2 cab, then they won't pay asking price, but if its someone that is looking for that nostalgia factor, then they will pay top dollar. Last Year I sold a restored two slot Neo Geo dedicated cab for $1K. Never thought I could but the right individual came along and didn't care about the price, he just had to have it. Seems to be one extreme or another.
