First off, apologies if this is in the wrong forum. My intention is to have this be a running thread where I can ask questions at various stages of the build (and thereby not have to start a new thread all the time). If this belongs somewhere else feel free to move it.
That said, Hi! Long-time lurker, first-time poster. I recently acquired a 3KOAM Z-Back for the princely sum of $FREE. It was owned by a family friend, who was holding it for another person (but that person passed away). So it sat rotting in his garage (along with a Dynamo HS-8, but that'll be a whole nother thread).
Once I got it home I went about checking the various electronic boards so I wouldn't short anything upon first plug in. Nice thick layers of dust on EVERYTHING. So I cleaned the exterior filth then moved on to the game board (3 Wonders). Looked to be in relatively good shape so I just cleaned it and moved on to the monitor chassis. Same deal, just removed the dust caked on it and then cracked open the power supply.
REALLY glad I didn't try to fire it up before cleaning the power supply internals as it had the most dust of all! Anyhow, got everything back together, crossed my fingers (and squinted really hard), and then flipped the switch. No smoke! And the monitor powered on! So the most expensive single component works! Yes!
Now to figure out why the game won't boot...
(Noticed my thumbnails are all rotated, anyone know how to re-rotate them? They were right side up when I attached them.)
