3DS thread

There is always the chance that some of those title are release date (ship from the manufacturer on release date) instead of street dated (store usually gets them a few days early but can't sell them until the street date). The vendors I work with are only responsible for 2 of the launch titles so I'm not positive on the others.

Those 18 were called out as launch titles by Nintendo in a press release yesterday. The EA titles actually release before the system... Which makes no sense.

That's the kind of thing that could get us in trouble at Game Crazy.

They sell the games a few days before, so someone comes in and buys a few games early, then the system comes out and don't buy anything with it. In the retail business that's called a dry sale. Pretty stupid, and one of the reasons I don't like retail.

@%#$& I want a Prof. Layton launch title.

"Professor Layton and the Mask of Miracle" Probably won't see that in the US for at least another year. :(

yea im mad about that, Thats one title im dying for and now im afraid we might not even get it? has it been announced for the US. I have seen it in magazines but it scares me there gonna launch it there and no word of it launching here.

Im still pumped for this..

Professor Layton is cool and all, but are these new sequels any better and/or different?

I loved the first one and when I played the second and third ones, I felt they were pretty much the same, just with a different story. But I guess with a puzzle-solving game, there isn't much you can do than come up with new puzzles with a continued story line. That's kind of how I feel about the Phoenix Wright series as well.

I think the Prof. Layton games hold up much better than the Phoenix Wright games. At least with layton it's not a lot of time between puzzles... PW can be a pain in the ass going through all the text to the next area where you can actually do something.

I'm sure we'll get the US version of the 3DS game eventually, but with so many of the puzzles having play on word clues, etc. I'm guessing they take longer to localize than other games. Hell the 2nd one in the US didn't release until after the 4th released in Japan. The fourth one STILL hasn't been announced for the US (The Specter's Flute).

I agree. With PW, I'm like, "If I wanted to read a book, I'd buy a book." Haha. Same thing with Hotel Dusk, though that was a pretty cool concept and game. Layton is definitely less reading and more puzzle solving.

i never played dusk for more than 6 minutes.. I should try LOL so much readingg

I hate myself for picking up games that are so hyped up and I never play em..

Wow. Only five games available from release day in Australia. A$350 to buy the unit. That seals it, I ain't getting one of these for a while.

Hotel Dusk was interesting, I'd play through anouther one if they put a 2nd game out.

interesting. I may have to import the UK version someday.

Yeah, I've been meaning to for months. I've been so busy at work that I haven't had a chance to play it anyway.

As a side note, a Wii sequel was made to Trace Memory, though only released outside of the states. I've played it a bit and it seems pretty decent, though the gameplay is a bit different from the first TM and from HD. The English version can be had for about $30 on ebay.

Did any of you guys try the touch detective series?

It was a little simplistic, but I found it entertaining. It was a decent point and click.

Didn't enjoy that one so much.

You know what would be awesome? If Telltale/Lucasarts released a Monkey Island Anthology on the 3DS/Wii. Containing the original 4 Monkey Island games and special editions of each (they've done the first two alredy). Unlikely, but it would be sweet.

Still waiting for a Day of the Tentacle special edition. Maybe they'll release a 20th anniversary one in 2013 with commentary and behind-the-scenes with Ron Gilbert and Tim Schafer. :)

YES... I need to play some SCUMM games on the DS... and I don't want to emulate them.

I just picked up Monkey Island for the PS2 from the pawn shop a few weeks back. I really need to pop it in.

Just got this in a press release:

"A new 3D game from Nintendo's iconic Super Mario series is in the works for the Nintendo 3DS™ portable system. Nintendo also announced two upcoming collaborations: Nintendo 3DS owners will be able to connect automatically to the Internet at more than 10,000 AT&T Wi-Fi Hot Spots, while Netflix members will instantly stream movies and other content on their Nintendo 3DS systems. These features were announced today at the Game Developers Conference "
