I'm definitely up for doing something like that, even building a full cabinet. Unclear how to even start a project of that magnitude. I start to think about the shopping list I'd need and the rarity of some of the stuff - like a monitor - and it feels overwhelming. I'd love, absolutely love, to do that though!

Other options: I've a working Tempest and Gravitar, and think there could be options there.

Fred Konopaska has done some amazing work remaking/designing the xy chassis and you can get donor tubes from many old TVs and rewind the yokes.

Personally I would start with the repro cabinets. You can make them from plans relatively cheaply, then slowly populate them.

But first, research to get your head around the magnitude of the project(s)....

It makes a lot of sense to run Quantum in a Tempest cabinet... the monitor is already in the right orientation, and the two wires for Fire and Zap can be repurposed to serve the second axis of the trackball. Just need a wee adapter and a second control panel with a trackball instead of the spinner and buttons.

A small update: last week and after 24 years, I was finally able to test the Quantum board, thanks to @jkoople.

IT WORKED. :D

Now, what should I do with it? Seems a shame to just let it sit on a bookshelf.

Leaving it on your bookshelf is a waste of precious bookshelf space. Leave it on my bookshelf instead :)

Seriously though, living here in the SFBA has it's perks when it comes to Atari stuff. I scored SN 28 Star Wars upright that came from an Atari employee.
