30 game hoax?

I emailed a day or two ago about one of the games but never heard back.

I see a Star Wars, Tapper and a couple of more obscure titles in there.

Not sure if that is $10k worth of games. My guess is that the usual flippers are trying to grab the whole thing.

poor 30 cabs, they'll all be gutted and fitted with new 20" LCDs in no time

Tim's bulk buy

Looks like Tim the arcade guy did get these along with other investors. I am am sure he will be posting some of them on his epay store soon so look for them there. Hopefully he won't be tearing into any of them. Tim is ok deal with, communicates well and will tell you what's going on with a game upfront. He is a very creative guy though and loves the art of the deal and hashing it out etc..This thread can be closed.

he will definitely be converting them, tossing the monitors and installing lcd's, etc.

Seriously man, let it go. Tim is a good guy and a decent seller. You don't have to like "flippers", and I get that, but the personal attacks on Tim everytime his name is mentioned is quite tiresome.

Not everyone is a collector, some people are businessmen. I couldn't see paying $150 to have a monitor rebuilt by Arcadecup or $150 for a Tempest board repair to resell a machine. If the machine is functional, Tim does not gut them but resells them for a profit...

You could fill 3 funspots with the functional games he has gutted and then marked up.

Yeah, because it makes a ton of sense for someone to gut a perfectly good, working machine for the sake of sinking money into it and reduce the amount of profit out of the machine. I'm not sure you understand how "profit" works, but most people in business actually try to maximize it...

I'm just trying to figure out why you constantly tear into Tim whenever his name pops up on a post. RLEVIN and TNT Amusements (as well as other retailers) are members of the forum, why don't you attack them? I'm sure they have frankenstein'd a few cabs in their day.. or is it just easier to bash someone that won't fight back?

KidVidiot, I don't have a problem with you. I have a problem with people on these forums bashing good people based upon perceived actions. I know another retailer from IL that doesn't post here because everyone thought he did the same as what you are acusing Tim of doing. Honestly, they create a living for themselves, keep people interested in the hobby, and often salvage alot of machines that may have otherwise been on the way to a dumpster or city dump. I also know restoration guys that have been run off from here because people bash their opinions on how to fix machines.

They also help to provide used parts to people like me that couldn't find a part elsewhere or would have had to pay 3x as much to have reproduced as a custom aftermarket piece or NOS, and that's IF I would have been able to FIND someone to make it or have it in stock. I'm trying to ask you to encourage people in the hobby or that surround it rather than bash people you don't know or deal with.

He didnt get those parts from gutting games?

And there has NEVER been a game that was beyond salvagable for you? Let's see... Blown monitor, bad board, blown power supply, distroyed CP and water-soaked cab in a Buster Bros. coversion.... You'd spend the cash to restore this or would you sell the coin door?

You know the answer... and you aren't even trying to make a living doing this...

Oh, and if you disagree with me and WOULD salvage it, I have a TON of locals you can piss off... http://forums.arcade-museum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=11

Tim was banned from here for life. He's not the only one that's happened to but you only need to see his rantings that he posted here to know there's something odd....

It's amusing that not a whole lot of people from the So Cal scene swooped in here to vouch for him either...that should give you an idea of how he's perceived by many of the locals.

Flippers have ruined the arcade scene here. All the long term So Cal people know what I'm talking about. It's depressing to watch.

I've bought a couple of games from Tim and never had a problem with him. He generally lists them for way more than they're worth on craigslist, but if you make him a reasonable offer, he's generally willing to bargain.

He's someone who doesn't deal with social media well, that's for sure. I'm sure pretty much every KLOV poster has been called an asshole at one time or another. Most of us just laugh it off and move on. But when people came down on Tim (price police, conversion police, whatever) he went all apeshit and started threatening people. And then of course the trolls took that opportunity to rile him up as much as possible (hey! let's poke the monkey with a stick!)
