Star Castle uses 3 wires per coin door switch. One to NO, one to NC, and one to ground. Huh? What is the purpose and is it possible to wire in a 2-way switch (NO and GND) in it's place? I want to install one of my coin door lock switches but it's only a 2 position switch.

I have the same issue with my Space Wars. :( It was wired very strange compared to other cabs. Subscribing so I can learn the answer, if someone knows...

I just thought of something... perhaps the 3rd lead going to the NC wire is for the coin counter? Perhaps when it opens it ticks off a credit? I'll have to do some testing...

Early Atari games are that way too. The Atari boards need to see both for them to coin up and work. Not sure about the Star Castle. - Barry

Just take off NC, short NO and C and see if it coins up?

Welp,

I checked and the game will not coin up separate from the coin counter... however, if you do what whammoed suggested and just tie both together it works fine... evidently the counter is wired to the NO and the PCB is wired to NC... the game appears to work fine when it's wired to NO though. When I press the button I can hear the counter kick and when I let it go I get a coin up... win!

I also took a little time to look at one of the barrel key switches I have that I hate (because they are spring loaded and will pop the key out)... I was able to remove the back of the switch, insert and turn the key 180 degrees and then reassemble. What that did is that the key is now permanently in the switch... you can't remove it... which is just fine.
