3 questions,.. WHat monitor is this, WTH did they do here! and 60 in 1 jamma connect.

I picked up an Arkanoid in a pacman a while back and toyed with the idea of converting it back into pacman, but I like arkanoid .. la la la so Eventually I decided to buy a 60 in 1 board and leave arkanoid in the cab and just a few quick connects away from converting it back.

Picked up a Jamma harness looked at the video connector and then went to look at my monitor and for the last few hours been looking over it trying to find out what the heck it is before I decided to ask.

I figure if I ever need to do a cap kit I would like to know what monitor it is and will help with my wire pin out connection question

Next question .. in my third picture,... I know that is not the video connection I will have on the jamma harness but I would like to buy that connector and put the R B G Ground and sync in their right places. I was going to trace them back to the arkanoid connector and look it up but was confused at the far right part of that connection .. did they double ground that or .... I am not sure what they did there.

In the first picture top left it looks like something that could be a fuse holder without a fuse in it and that can not be good can it? .. I mean the monitor turns on and looks nice outside a little burn in,..

I guess the last question would be when trying to wire up the jamma video wires (if I can find that connector) should I, if that is indeed the ground wire,.. ... Y that in place like it is in the picture. I am just not sure what they were doing. I should ask tnt amusements. I see they serviced it in dec 99 ... They checked off new caps, solder, and.. mods... on their service sticker.

Sorry for such a long winded question

Sincerely
Sami

The far right is the v sync which is negative, not the ground, The ground is the 4th wire in purple. I guess I will just Y shape the v sync on the new set up as well.

left to right on the plug is RED (pin 1), GREEN (pin 2), BLUE (pin 3), GROUND (pin 4), x, x, x, x, and composite sync off the board bridged to both the negative vertical sync (pin 9), and negative horizontal sync (pin 10)

they did some real hack shit. to make this plug yourself you will need 10 pin .156 female flat molex housings, with .156 trifurcon pins. and of course a molex crimping tool. since I work for a location I get all of these very conveniently from Suzo-Happ.

the monitor model however is a Wells-Gardner K4600. most notable for its cards. the header pins those plug into are a very common point of failure as the solder joints are often stressed from plugging/unplugging of the cards, and in your case, probably gravity too if it's a horizontal mount frame. you'll find there will be a lot of solder to reflow. my only real tips are to pay attention to the markings on the underside of the chassis, those card pins are actually numbered. add solder to all the pins first, then remove the old solder on either the odd or even pins first, re-solder. then do the next alternating pins. you don't want to desolder the whole thing because you don't want them to move at all. the other extremely crucial tip it to snip the wires to the width coil, and set the frame with the coil in a safe spot while you work on the rest of the chassis. you can strip the tips and solder them back to the posts you cut them from later when you're all done. you don't want to attempt to remove the width coil from its metal holder cause chances are you'll wind up breaking it, and there's no replacements.

there are also no replacements for the flyback, so be very delicate with the wiring that attaches that to the deflection board.

Funny you said that about the cards and the solder joints. I took off the flat connector to trace the wires back to the arkanoid connector and the card moved some. I set it back where it was originally and it moved a little bit again as I finally eased the video connector off. Is that normal for the WG 4600? Figure I would ask now before I plug it in next week after everything arrives and blow something up bad.

I like self improvement and these arcade projects help for that. I have a little bit too ambitious project in an empty MK2 cab I picked up for 25 bucks that had what looks like most of the wire harness intact to a transformer with a cut power wire. Looks like it had water damage at some point but I will work up to that project as soon as I find a 25 inch monitor. Would a 25 inch crt tv work with a universal chassis out of curiosity? The polo chassis was complete trash when I picked it up.

what's wrong with the Polo?

I would never ever use one of those piece of garbage universal chassis.

if your going to cap it, i would suggest the cap kit and C621 cap replacement. i stock all the molex parts and tools along with all the other parts if you need with the best quality caps.

The polo was completely ripped out of the cab it looks like. Not even sure it is complete. I am sure you can buy a new parts. Like the flyback can be replaced since the cup is not even there or cut off. It looks in sad shape but maybe I can fully look over it to see what exactly is missing.

I thought the pacmans were G07's after reading some things. I looked for pics of different WG ones but didn't find any pictures that matched. But yeah thanks Ken :D

Security I just bought those parts last night from twistywrist but I will buy from you in the future :D
