I was pretty much given this game. It actually works but had monitor issues which was an easy fix. The control panel latch board some how before I acquired the game fell out and the remote pot board and harness attached to it fell and blasted the adjustment pots and cracking the PCB.

It's currently a Carrier Airwing but Ive always wanted to to build a horizontal multi hack and slash cab so Magic Sword is it for me..

Every one always goes for G&G, but since my cabinet is a Angle back 3-KOAM the colors I think will work together..

I went to see the game for sale and talked to the guy for abit, but I decided to pass on the game. He called me last week and said he just wanted it gone, and so i went by their and grabbed it, I gave him 50 bucks just a thank you but almost had instant regret about this game lol...

Heres what it looked like and the add

Apparently his dog chewed the right side up at the control panel.

Kinda hard to tell In the pic but the front kick panel is cracked in half above the coin door which is missing parts, and there is a metal plate to the side covering a monster hole.

The entire sides were covered in tattoo shop stickers and spray paint, and the red vinyl was peeling all around the edges.

These were reasons I passed on this game, but its sat on let go for 2 months and nobody wanted this thing.

Soooo.... here we go, going to convert it to Magic Sword, is a generic cabinet so i feel no shame in running an Arpicade horizontal as the PCB so i may also play rastan, G&G and many other hack and slash games.

I started stripping the sides last weekend...

Despite being ugly as hell the game is solid. Only one area of bondo will be needed and reshaped!

The entire front kick panel will be replaced since its cracked in half, and has a gaping hole under the plate by the coin door

Going to look super cool on a red cabinet...

all of the art will be standard except that the bezel will fit 25in view hole

Ive decided to stay on a budget with this game, biggest expenses will be the art from TOG and the Arpicade from Joe at HighScoreSaves.

So I decided that i will just paint the sides and kick panel in color matched red from Lowes or Sherman Williams... Im just going to take the kick panel off and go down there have the color match it. While Im there have them cut me a new panel. Ill use the old panel as a template to position the coin door hole, trace it out and cut it with a jigsaw, then paint it before attaching it. This way i can respray all the inner black before hand and not have to tape of anything which will be nice

So thats the direction Im headed, I will update as I go for the sake of having something to do and read on klov and keep things alittle more active. Ive been doing builds a restores, I just never post much of it anymore, but I saw Phetishboy pop up with clowns, so i figure i would add something to the klov community even thou its not really anything to write home about, and just a 3-KOAM Z back post folks don't even like it seems. Not sure why, they are kinda cool I think.

First time for me so it will be fun

Any reason why you did not use 19" hs1? Seems like a bunch of work to put into the wrong cab. Didn't Kevin recently build one and put one for sale? I have a dedicated magic sword in storage. I was going to take it to cax last year, but Kevin was taking his..

No reason, its a kit game so is there really a wrong cab? Kevins is in a taito double dragon cab, and a cool looking game in fact his was the reason I wanted to build one one day. Ive seen Magic Sword in all kinds of cabs, Midway, Williams, even Nintendo lol.

Looking on the International Arcade Museum

Its a CPS conversion, and Carrier Airwing is in that list along with Magic Sword and other greats...

So I think its a great choice especially the red. Since the cab was kinda in bad shape, and free, why not have some fun with it.

Yes, it was a kit in the sense that street fighter 2 CE was a kit. But if you were going to buy a cab, capcom was putting them in the 3koam cabs. especially here in CA where they had offices.

the ones I have seen were usually hs1. the capcom digital collection shows an hs1. The kit art fits that cab. but its your choice.

I actually did do the comparison and oddly enough the original art for sale on ebay is spot on. The only dimensions I could not find, was the inside view area of the bezel.

My Airwing Bezel measures exactly the the same dimensions as the one on ebay nearly exact but mine is actually smaller by 1/4 on the width, which is odd because I assumed that most of the used would be cut smaller than the width of the 3-KOAM

Mine is 25 3/4 by 25 1/2

I have not found any specific information on what the size would be if your received them at in the kit, but I assume that they are oversized abit to fit a verity of cabs since its a kit you could convert games that were no longer earning.

I know your real familiar with these games so if you have info on that, it would be great, or if your interested in measurements on your NOS stuff I read some place you commented on owning and would like to share that would be great! If you still have it.

All great info to have. I did compare the marquee as well and many of them on ebay match nearly exact to my cab.

My control panel also matches exactly to the available repro on ebay, and my panel is not a cut corner, its more like the G&G/ Final Fight style

So i can almost order what i needed on ebay, but i wanted all my art to bright and super cool looking so i will have rich make me all new but at the same dimensions as the current installed art, that is nearly exact to what's available used.

Got the remote pot board in the mail from a friend, got it installed and sure enough after alittle adjustment, its not perfect, and its not even recapped and I dont think it ever has been.. but its actually pretty nice!!! I dont think im going to, its nice enough and i can always do it later...

Looks good! Magic Sword is a great game to theme a multi on. I love the Z-Back for Capcom 90's games.
