3 game haul tommorrow

Yesterday I did 2 big tasks on the Badlands.
1: I pulled the cabinet outside and thoroughly washed it with the hose.
2. I finished rebuilding the monitor and it powers up great with power only.

Today I hope to replace the power supply and put it all back together.
There is still one problem: the 1 player pedal is broken. It is the original pedal, and there is no spring action to it, it just stays depressed. After I cleaned the cabinet, the pedal started dumping out sticky goo. I cannot take it apart, so the manual was not lying when they said "no serviceable parts".

So, if anyone has a spare microswitch based pedal, hook a bro up!

Apparently the reason the pedal is not serviceable is because the return spring action is made by a rubber, goo filled bladder thing. WTF was atari thinking?!? Last I checked, springs were in existence and cheap for a long, long time. The goo started dumping out because I had the cabinet out in 90 degree sun to dry out from its bath.

Anyways, I got the game all put back together with the help of my lovely, arcade loving wife. How many of you can say your wife has helped you install a monitor? ;) We then played 2 player action for a good while. The 1 player pedal is broken, but it is in the on position, so still playable. Eh, everyone keeps the pedal to the metal on games like this anyways.

The rebuilt monitor has a beautiful and vibrant picture. It's funny to think back that just a few months ago, I was terrified of monitors.

Anyways, all three games are now fully working. I think I'll call this thread a day now.

The pedal is just an on/off switch on Badlands? I haven't played CS or SS in a while, are they switches too or pots?

Glad to hear the monitor rebuild worked. That's great news!!!

Now sell something and buy my Crystal Castles. :)

Champ Sprint is pot based. I have a spare set of pedals for CS that I wish I could use.

The pedals didn't match on Badlands anyways. The 2 player pedal looks to be fairly new, and is very bulky. I'd really take anything at this point.

I was asking more out of curiousity than suggesting you swap them. I was thinking CS/SS were pots and not switches but didn't know for sure.

But now that you mention it, I'm sure you could rig the CS pedals to work with a switch. How hard could it be? If you have them as spare/scrap and your existing pedals don't match anyway...

Damn the rebuilt monitor in Badlands is SHARP!!! The colors are super vivid - it makes all my other monitors look like total crap. I guess it is time to start doing cap kits all around!

Oh, and I have a tentative deal (awaiting fundage, since they bought 2 more machines than they intended) on the Outrun, another vid, and my pinball. I am super stoked!
