3 days driving,a rare pin,and a pristine vector ,im tired!

ok,

so im scouring resources weds, when i chance upon a DEFENDER PINBALL, i had to ask 3 times to be sure i heard correctly, knowing that williams only produced 369, i was excited

we agreed on a price and now i had to convice my wife to not only let me buy this but drive 700 miles each way!

she did agree(more on this later)

so i asked the guy if he had any other pins, feeling what the hell he may have another rare game(but not expecting it)

so, thursday night the guy answers me back , saying he has a "pretty nice" ATARI BLACK WIDOW

so since im going to be there anyway i decided to see if any klover's were hunting for one!

what do i find?.....smokinfish has just bumped his wanted thread not even 10 mins before

within minutes he has returned my pm and off i would go!

so friday moring i leave san antonio for garden city kansas

halfway there i lose cell signal

i got stopped for running a red light in one of those sleepy towns

almost hit at least 6 deer

arrived at 11pm

my first impression was , great im in no where's ville with no cell

but i got a beautiful defender pin!

the black widow , honestly i had never seen one in person and wasnt sure how to decribe the condition

but i didnt need to worry this machine screamed , BUY ME NOW

i played it for the first time and was very impressed both with the play and the games condition but ill let mark (smokinfish) describe it

I saw that bitch in person....the Defender pin,not Darren. Lol! Just kidding Darren! Anyway,that Defender pin was AWESOME! And I have never seen a cleaner looking game than that Black Widow.You could've told any klover it was HUO and if they would have seen it they'd believe you.

Nice scores. I'm really jealous now. Black Widow has been on my "I want one, someday" list since I played it at the Houston Arcade show either last year or two years ago.

now, about the agreement i made with the wife


she agreed to let me buy it ONLY if i sold it....

so , i called another collector who is opening a arcade in austin.....

asked him if he was interested, and well....

in november it will be on display along side of defender arcade

as well as about 120 other pins, drivers, arcade games etc...

he has also asked me to do tech work for him, so i will be playing this baby regularly


i didnt want to sell it, but it was only way she would agree, and if i didnt buy it it was going to go to a teenager as a graduation gift

it is going to an excellent home!

i hope some of you get the opportunity to visit it and when better details are available i will anounce them here

Ok i'm very tired and i got a huge headache and i'm not being a butthead when i'm typing this but i'm having a very hard time trying to follow this. You traveled 3 days, 1400 miles, all that gas money, somewhere to stay for atleast two of those days all for a Black Widow game you picked up for someone else and Defender pinball gane you have to sell?????????????????? What did you get out of all of this? Congrats on the find though.

oh man a real classic play style with the 3 top lanes, bumpers an side drop targets, an an an i am so jealous! i love that style of playfield i played so much in the 80's! and on top of that williams defender!
