I know I can buy them easily online but I need one tonight. I've tried auto shops, Radio Shack, Fry's...does anyone carry a 3/4 amp slow blow fuse in store in the Dallas area? Why the hell is this so freakin difficult!?! AAHHHHHHH!

If it's a desperate need, use aluminum foil until you can get the part.

Yeah... probably not a good idea :D

At the worst, using a 1 amp fuse would still protect you from direct shorts. I'm surprised nobody has them, 3/4A is not that uncommon of a part. What's the application?

Wouldn't a piece of tin foil just make it a direct current? It's for a pinball DMD controller board.

A piece of tinfoil would work as a connection. But it provides absolutely no protection in the event of a short or other failure causing something drawing too much current. The purpose of a fuse is to blow *before* too much damage is done to whatever started to draw too much current. Usually, fuses fail for a reason, and a replacement will simply blow again. So, replacing the fuse with a wire, or a piece of foil will just cause something else to burn up - like a trace, a wire, a resistor, etc. Similarly, replacing a house fuse with a penny will just result in the wiring in the wall melting and burning instead of the fuse.

The rating of a fuse is how much current it will pass before it blows. So, putting a 1A fuse where a 3/4A fuse was is risky - since your device can now draw more current before the fuse blows. But it's nowhere near as bad as putting foil, or a nail, or something non-fusable in it's place.

Do you know why the fuse blew in the first place? That's what you need to fix first, otherwise your new 3/4A fuse will just blow again.

Really? Fry's didn't have one?

Have you checked Home Depot or Lowes? I know one of them (maybe both?) have a bunch of fuses in both fast and slo blo....

What No 22 caliber bullets for fuses?

Look for an Ace hardware.
Look for a Lowes
Look for a home depot.

They should all have them and a Simple bing search shows they do exist in Dallas Tx.

Good Luck in your search
