Just got this home! I need to figure out where the hell to put it, and hopefully I can fix the "won't coin up" problem." Boards look clean, playfield has average wear, but no spots are down to bare wood except for one spot around the drop target.

I got it bad. Real bad. Wife should really hide my ATM card from me. :p

Awesome. That's the game that changed pinball forever. I got to play one here locally about a week ago for the first time. It's not only important in regards to pinball history, it's also a lot of fun.

congarts ed on the new pin :) i love those 80's williams pins and this is def a classic. i have played a ton of this one on the williams pinball game for the ps2 (i know, its not the real deal but damn its fun). take some more pics once its all set up. chris

Thanks, guys. Plugged it in all the lamps lit up, but the CPU reported no 12 volts and started smoking at the opto resistors! :irked: Will start more troubleshooting tomorrow. I hope the CPU board is salvageable. :dontknow:

Thanks Tim!

I'm still working on it. Seems like I'm on the right track, though. Fingers crossed.

Pins are a dangerous addiction...... eclipses video game addition........ :)

No kidding. I'd say vids are like candy. Your sweet tooth might call out to you a bit more often than what could be healthy. With pins, it's like straight up heroin. You're fully convinced that you NEED it to get through the day.

For the record, I don't have any drug addictions in real life. ;)

Yeah, the draw is nuts, and lately there's been a lot of temptations around here. Must...be...strong!

I found the short on the board at a 74LS04. Socketed chip that had fused to the socket. Nasty.

Congrats on the new pin Ed. I remember they had one of these at Cerritos Mall Time-Out back in the day. Have fun with it !

Thanks, Ant. Unfortunately I don't remember playing it there BITD. The only pin I played even a little bit was Whirlwind. I'm way late to this pin thing. :p

I'm working 10 hour days at work, so there hasn't been a lot of time during the week to work on it. Very frustrating. I will post more pics when I get it working, though. :D

Nice pickup Ed! I love Space Shuttle, one of my favorites as a young lad...
also another wanted pinball that I can never seem to get my little hands on!
Good luck on the repairs, it will be worth it in the end!!

I just sold off my Space Shuttle pin a few days ago.

Starting to look now for another pin to redo.

Good pin..very good gameplay, and that bell inside...man that thing is loud! Scared the shit out of my wife the first time she played it.

Thanks guys. I really had no idea it started the next gen of pins, but I can see from the YouTube vids (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mkBirOBvi98) how much more lively it is to play than my Black Pyramid.

Yeah, that's a hefty bell! I plan to not tell my wife about it so I can enjoy her reaction to it. :D

So why is this pin one that considered to be the start of the way modern pics are made? is it because their is a toy spaceship on the playfield?
