Just curious if any of you guys have games the 2nd floor of your house. I have a single MAME cab atm, but I want to get some dedicated cabs and have a full blown game room once I get moved in my new place. I know the stairs will be a PITA, but I figured an appliance dolly with the cab strapped to it and some buddy's it could happen.

Stairs going up only suck on the way up, Stairs going down still suck just when you take the games out. So I don't see much difference. Just be careful not to over load your ceiling joist. Last thing I want to read about is some guy put fifty games above his garage and the ceiling collapsed once he had friends over. Hell I built a walkout with a sliding door so I still have to take the biggest and heaviest stuff down the steps so what the hell do I know.

My warehouse of over 70 games is on a second floor. You will end up redneck engineering something to get those games up the steps, you and a buddy gets old and heavy quick!

Thanks for the replies guys. I've got a spare bedroom I want to put some cabs in. Which will probably be 4 to 5 tops. My main concern was overloading the floor joist, but I think it will be alright as long as I don't put them right next to each other. Of course with it being upstairs DDR or any kind of big driving game is out ;) I was talking to a buddy of mine about this who services copy machines and he said they have a stair climbing dolly I could use anytime. SWEET!!

Another way of looking at it: I haven't seen it say anywhere a 300 lb person couldn't go on a 2nd floor and stand on one foot. That's putting way more pounds per sq/in than a arcade cab would put down.

Absolutely not!!! You just get more creative on how you move them, that's all!

This is a 1,200 lb Super GT on my second floor. We took it apart and carried everything right up the steps!

This is how I move anything bigger that I can't take apart. My steps have a U-turn landing, so it eliminates getting things like this straight up.

Creativity pays dividends!

Will the porch stay off until your collection is complete? :D

Anyone ever use a crane to get stuff into a second floor, like the image of a piano being hoisted into an apartment?

Don't try that with a DDR or PiU. You'll get it upstairs fine, but if you start getting good, the vibrations will slowly tear your house apart. Those babies really need to be close to the ground. :)

Similar situation, except mine are downstairs. But every time I sell a game, I have to move it up. I'm limited on the size of games to 35" square, but if they are narrow enough I can cheat a bit (DOT, for example).

My gameroom is upstairs (as are most gamerooms in Texas). I currently have:
Black Widow, Stargate, Joust, Bubbles, Sinistar, Joust, Robotron, Mystic Marathon, a Multi-Williams and a MataHari pin plus 5 pa*****o machines, 2 pachislots a dartboard and a TV hooked up to the Wii in my gameroom. So far it is showing no signs of not staying on the second floor.

Sweet! I've got my wish list ready

MK Cab with a Jamma switcher (I have a MK1 rev 3.0 board already)
Dedicated Golden Tee
NBA/Blitz 4 player game station
Area 51
1 DMD style Pin
Change Machine

I was thinking of building a kind of temporary "track" out of 2x4 or 4x4 wood to go on my stairs that I could bolt together and use a flat roller board with some block and tackle or electric winch to get stuff up to my second floor, then take it apart and stick it in the back of my garage for later use, but I'm going to be moving so I'm not going to bother with it, yet.

Yes, I am nuts enough to try that.
