So I wont lie.
I think I may have messed up my brand new (to me) monitor. I purchased a Target Terror cabinet with a flatscreen CRT with VGA input. The board was swapped out with a Point Blank2 board, and to be honest whoever did the swap did a horrible job.

I was tracing wires and trying to clean up this butcher job of a cabinet and low and behold a loose live wire touched the metal brace attached to the crt monitor, now my video is distorted and I am not sure what to do.

Attached are a few pictures. Im new to the arcade world, so any help anyone can offer would help.

A couple of quick questions..

1. Were you "cleaning" it while it was powered on?
2. Is there any loud buzzing or squealing coming from the flyback? (the area of the chassis your pic is of)
3. Have you tried making sync adjustments by to see if that wave of distortion changes at all?

Hey sam, thanks for getting back to me!

1. I was not cleaning the CRT with it on, however I was working in the cabinet with the power on. I was attempting to figure out what wires were live and where most of them went. There were roughly 50 or so areas where the wires were cut and not terminated or shielded. It was one of these wires that ended up touching the brass frame bars on the monitor while the cabinet was on.

2. There is a very high pitched hum, but if my memory serves me correct, this hum has always been there for as long as I have owned the cabinet.

3. The monitor adjustments I have only get the image as clear as the picture I attached. If I try to adjust it anymore then the whole screen distorts.

Yeah you may be due for a new (to you) monitor chassis. I'd strongly recommend against another Wei-ya. Most people agree they aren't so great.
