Hi I also posted this in general help and repair section. I have an Ivan stewart with a k7000 chassis. The colors appear to be very fadded. I hade the chassis rebuilt and put a known good picture tube in it. Im not sure if this is a monitior problem at this point is it possible that the boards could be causing this problem? any help would be great.

THANKS

easiest way to find out is by hooking it up to another game.

K7000s are known to have like fading colors and stuff, and rank up with the Sanyo EZs as like some of the best results post-cap kit lol. but if you had caps installed and the tube is supposed to be mint, then I don't know..

I've never really heard of game boards themselves causing faded colors. have you calibrated the drive and cutoff pots on the neckboard at all? if the cutoffs are turned way low that'll produce a very "faded" appearance in the picture.

would have to see some pics.

also keep in mind no matter how "rebuilt" a chassis is you seill need to adjust brightness focus color drives/cutoffs on the neckboard, etc before you will get the best results.

even new, that game was never that impressive looking and we have a few of these on our route. A brand new tube and chassis doesn't produce that great of a picture, so you can't expect this game to turn any heads with an older tube an rebuilt chassis.

^ this.

especially if you've changed it to another tube. but even if it's the same tube and you capped it after it not being done for like 20 years, there's gonna be some variances in the color adjustments to the tube afterward.

yeah thats why i was asking for pics, could be it fine, we shall see..

guys im not where the machine is at right now. I messed with the color adjustments earlier today with not much better results. is there any special way they all need to be adjusted to result in best colors. It just appears to have a lotr of green bleeding out the rest of the colors. Let me know thanks

I try to get my blacks, black and whites, white....the colors will be pretty close to where they should be if the white parts look white.

yeash the best way is to get to a screen thats black, adjust untill its pure black, turn eash adjustment untill the color bleeds through, then back down untill the bleeding is gone.

That will ge tyou in the bakkpark, but you may need monitor adjustments from there to get it right.

for focus, that ones simple. for coarse brightness, also simple. adjust up untill you see raster lines appear and back it off untill they are gone and picture is at your preference. Some people prefer on the edge of too bright, some like it a little dimmer.

youll need a big mirror in front while you are behind adjusting in real time. Makes life alot easier.

dont forget to clean the face of the tube and bezel, they tend to get pretty nasty.
