25" TV Monitors for Starwars Cockpits Project

And if you need any more HV transformers I have new ones here you can have at 35$ each.

Thanks

I just got 1 yesterday from twisted quarter

Also got 2 x WG6100's so I can use only the Focus blocks too on the 2 x amplifones

I will let you know how that goes

Wow, great work Dez. Makes me appreciate just how much work you've put in so far. Where theres a will theres a way huh? Let me know about the BR flyback as thats what I'm going to run on the rig. Have a goodun mate.

Hi Ben, thanks

I will, I have my son's 21st this weekend, so the show will go on after that, I wanted to get it to a usable state for the birthday

I am working a bit on this and a bit on the Amplifone HV Bare PCB project also

I WILL get there, as those who know me, will know

I have ordered and received winding wire the exact size as WG6100 Yokes and Amplifone Yokes

What I plan on doing is rewinding the Original TV yokes that the came with the Tube

One day we could have a supply of yokes

That's the plan, everything starts with an idea

May the schwartz be with you!!! :D

I would like to have a try of making generic yokes to suit WG6100's and 25" Amplifones

Step 1. Study the windings

That is a pic of 1/4 of the horizontal winding

Step 2. How is it connected? Time to have a look

1/2 of the winding

Got any plans to make a yoke that can be used for a 19" Amp setup? I realize most of us who are following this project want to make a 25"er, but I was hoping to get the repro setup, a new-isher tube, and have a new 19" Amp for my upright.

In a word, yes :)

I wanted to start with the 25" and finish that nicely first

I have ordered and received the winding wire for both the 19" and 25" yokes, so that's the plan

Once the Amplifone PCB and bits are all sent off, this will continue with speed

Ok, the horizontal windings are in parallel with each other and wound in the same direction, IE makes it easier to duplicate, as the position of the 2 x curved ferrites is interchangable

Ah ok, sweet. Guess I just need to find a 19" tube before they become too scarce then, was worried I might need to source a 19" Amp yoke before the rush.

Any particular manufacturers, model numbers, characteristics, etc. I should seek in said 19" tube? Or maybe I should just hold off until more is finalized...

I picked up 3 last week from roadside collections, they are Akai, Mitsubishi and Philips. I now have 5 to try with

I think any will do except Sony - as Sony's are different voltages and have radically different neck connectors.

It's easy to throw them out, harder to get them.

So, if you see a 19" TV, get it (And the 25" too, of course) Prefix must be 63 on the 25" and be 100 degree

Will see what the local pawn shops or TV repair have when I get home. No need for the 25" in my case though, as awesome as a cockpit would be I'm happy with an upright. I just wanna upgrade the 6100, cycle speed sucks, feels like playing the game in slow motion.

I was planning on fitting a 25" in a Black Widow Cab, for the Zektor, that way all of the vertical games will still be 19" equiv in size once the screen is clipped at the sides. (IE the ZVG is run by MAME)

I have measured and it will fit.

I can save my 19" Amplifone for Quantum

I typically go for dedicated titles unless there is a multigame kit that preserves most of the original hardware. But that does sound pretty cool, albeit also a lot of work.

I did consider for a bit making a Vectrex multi though. :D But I think the novelty would fade quickly (no proper overlays, incorrect controls, emulated games, etc.) and the ZVG seems expensive for what it is.

I wonder how many people are going to build out dedicated Quantums...? If I weren't late for that train already I'd be tempted to give it a shot...
