I have a newer 25" monitor, hooked into a JAMMA cabinet. If I put in Soul Calibur 2 (which I think uses a different resolution than standard) the picture looks perfect. If I put in X-Men, it has some weird curl or tear at the top 1/2" of the screen, like it's offset or smeared from the rest of the picture. SC2 and X-Men pictures both extend to the same portion of the screen, and X-Men looks normal on a 19" JAMMA cabinet. So why could this be happening with one game but not the other?

Thanks,

M.O.

I think you answered your own question. It looks like you have a med res monitor in the cab (or a monitor that can handle multiple resolutions set to med res). The X-men only syncs with standard resolution. If you can identify the monitor we can tell you if it is able to be changed to standard res.

put th eboard back in that messes up... try adjusting the vertical and horizontal holds , 50/60 pot(if equipped) and see it it fixes it..

All boards sync at slightly different frequencies so the "setting" for one board sometimes will not work with the other board.... its a bummer if your the kind of guy that likes to swap pcbs alot but its kind of how it goes..

i would also check the monitors sync wiring in cab a versus cab b..

it could be that the sync is wired differwntly between the two cabinets too.

If it was med res then you would have nothing but scrambled mess from x-men.

That is not true. A standard res signal on a med res monitor usually causes multiple images offset from one another. I usually can make out three overlapping pictures. The curl he mentioned on top I have seen as well.

25K7191, Wells-Gardner, 25" .. hopefully it does have some control I'm missing, that lets it switch, but I didn't see one.

That is a standard res monitor. You should try tweeking the hold pots on your monitor remote board. As was stated earlier - not all monitors sync with the same settings.

BTW, the Soul Caliber 2 manual states that it can be shifted between med res and std res by a switch.
