25" K7xxx vs. K7401, you decide...

K7000 is very solid as opposed to the K7400. The 7400 is prone to more failures and headaches vs the 7000. Although mileage may very, as it's all old electronics. My pick, K7000 without question. And if you ever have issues with 7000, there's so much material available to troubleshoot.

the K7400 has better image quality, though it's very negligible. it's a sizable improvement over the U2000 and U5000 it replaced. making a K7400 indestructible takes a lot more effort than it would a K7000 however.

the K7000 is like the LS1 engine of the monitor models. there's a wealth of information on how to fix them, the parts availability is greater, and there's just more people that know how to tame them.

the K7400's biggest knock is probably on the flyback; while you were crapping your pants over a white knob K7000 flyback, a K7400 one is trapped in the gauntlet of drifting brightness or focus. they're just as junky as the Neotecs. several of them are mated to inferior late-90s Zenith tubes; others were featured on much better Philips, Hitachi, and I think Samsung and RCA tubes. they also have that awful condition with the neckboards heating up to the point that the traces lift or solder pads break, dropping primary colors.

the K7000 doesn't have those problems.

I give the nod to the K7000.

The K7400 has proper horizontal width adjustment (pot on remote board). The K7000 doesn't. If it's not a dedicated cab and you want to swap out boards frequently that's a very important thing.
