A month or so ago, I posted some questions about a color issue I am having with the monitor in my Terminator 2 cab. Refer to this post for more background info.

Frankly, I'm getting tired of degaussing the monitor each time I play the game. It's really not necessary, but the discoloration in the reds bugs the hell out of me. I was able to locate a brand new tube for the unit and in the process of locating the tube number, I noticed a few things. Please keep in mind, this is my first arcade game and I am newbie when it comes to monitor repair and diagnosis.

In the first picture I found what appears to be the degaussing wire.... Isn't this supposed to be wrapped around the entire monitor? I have noticed that my color issue does not return after the monitor has been powered on after sitting for awhile. I know per the WG manual that degaussing occurs once the monitor has been powered on after being off at least 20mins.

Second, I found a grey wire cut, think its the neck board ground wire.... It has other grounds going to the chassis, but not sure where to connect this....

What do you guys think? Any info would be very helpful. I do plan on ordering the new tube.... I am hoping it will correct this color issue.... The tube that is installed in my unit now has slight burn in also.

Thanks!

On a 25" tube the degauss wire typically doesn't wrap the entire tube like it does on a 19". What you have looks normal.

Grey wire - do you have a wire coming off of the tube, usually near the bottom that connects to the neck board? This is the DAG ground and is necessary to prevent damaging the chassis.

It looks like his dag wire is connecting to a screw on the side of the left wall. I've seen that before.

I'd ask if you have tried rotating the cabinet, manually degaussing, then see if you keep having the same issue.

It's possible your degauss circuit isn't working properly. The little MTC there can sometimes get cold solder joints. You should also be able to test your degauss coil for continuity to make sure it has no breaks.

And it's possible the tube is just shit. I've even seen the frame get magnetized and cause problems like this perpetually....

You may have to readjust you purity rings.
See the electrohome G07 Manual for some procedures.
if your not sure how.
Use the raster test pattern from the game board for adjusting.
Also the Magnet rings are to close to the yoke, needs to be back closer
to the cathodes.
Pull the Pur/Converg ring back and pull the yoke back and start over
adjust it,then degauss it again.
You can confirm your internal degausser circuit is working
by measuring the ac across the pins, should measure 120vs for a few seconds
then no voltage or use a incandescent Bulb it will light up then go off after a few seconds.
Odds are the complete circuit is working if the coil is good.
Good Luck!

When I do move the cabinet around it does get better but the discoloration does re-occur once I turn the game on after its been sitting for awhile... I disconnected the degaussing coil and manually degaussed the monitor. So far, the discoloration has not returned with the coil disconnected. This tube is very difficult to degauss... I put the game on the red test screen and do very short zaps fairly close to the monitor. The game is not at my house and have not checked if for a week. I will check it again tonight and re-post. I'm thinking since the monitor is so difficult to degauss the coil may be causing this issue... I assume since there is a change when the degauss coil is disconnected I would assume its working. I'm a newbie so bear with me...

Thanks for everyone's time and input!

I still think the tube and/or frame has been magnetized in the past. Possibly from speakers being too close or using unshielded speakers. I have had this happen before where I swapped a different frame and the issue was still there... it would manually degauss for about a day or two, then the discoloration would come back. In my case either the tube's metal strap or the screen itself was the cause of the issue. I had to junk it since no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't get satisfactory results with placing small refridgerator-type magnets on the frame. I could get it alot better, but not perfect.
