So I won a "Non-working" Super Cobra on ebay for $25ish and this thing is really clean. The monitor has a little tiny bit of burn which is really unnoticeable unless you really stare at it, but the colors are great and it is really bright. It appears to be a G07, which will be my first time having this monitor.
He said only the marquee light came on so he thought something else was wrong with it, but I think he was trying it with the back door off because once I pushed the door button thingy it started right up. hmmmm
It has some graphical glitch issues so I'm going to re-seat all of the roms and see if that fixes it. The counter says over 15,000 but this had to be in a house for awhile because it seems to clean. There were 2 small chips on a piece of Styrofoam near the coin box and I am curious as to what they might be. I have attached a picture.

Ok, last question. :) I noticed there are other games out there in this same cabinet, does anybody know what are other "non-intrusive" options for this cab? Are there games that are more fun than this one?

Thanks for reading

Dustin

Super Cobra

Congratulatoins! Down the road, you might consider swapping out the Super Cobra PCB with a 48-in-1 or 60-in-1 board. They play Super Cobra and many other games. You can use a fingerboard to make a Super Cobra to JAMMA adapter so wiring would be minimal on the cabinet if you ever want switch it back. Have fun!

Wow, nice pickup! Why does it seem like all the deals come up in the Indy area? :)
Thanks! I got lucky on this one, he had a Super Arkanoid too but I forgot to raise my bid, it went for $33.

Thanks, that is exactly what I was thinking on this one but was unsure of the adapter I would need. I will do some searching.

2 quarters for 1 play? Back in the day when this was the "new kid on the block", lol!

I'm interested about those chips, too.

It'll convert to Konami's classic pinout, so a bunch of other older Konami pinout games. Someone can probably supply you with a list, or you could Google it...

Thanks for the info, I'll search for Konami pinout. I wonder who's idea it was to up the price back in the day? Was it the game manufacturer's or the ops?

I belive that those are RAM chips. If they have been removed or were intended to replace bad ones, that might explain your graphics glitches. That game is a lot like Scramble, isn't it?

Thanks for the links! The quarter arcade adapter is the opposite of what I think I would need to use a JAMMA 60-1 in this cab. I think that is to play the Konami board in a JAMMA cab.

Yeah, that was more to give you the list of games you asked for that have the classic Konami pinout.

So I re-seated all of the removable chips on both boards and am still having the graphic issue. It seems to be anything associated with the helicopter, bullets and bombs as well. None of the chips on either board match the ones on the Styrofoam so that's kinda weird.

It also appears there is an overlay over the original CP. If I look hard enough I can see something under it that looks like the CP pictures on KLOV. I wonder why they did that? Hmmmm.

9114 will cross/replace 2114 RAM. Not familiar with that board and don't have a schematic so I don't know if Scramble uses 2114.

As to the overlay. That's a Wills I think. I know I have seen it before but may be mistaken on the manufacturer. It could be another design common BITD. Either way I bet the old one was worn out and a cheaper aftermarket one was used to spruce up the game. Sounds like the old one was not removed.

Super Cobra and Scramble are horrible on the 60 in 1. The sounds are absolutely whacked.

Nice score. I love that game!

Thanks for the information. I will check the board for 2114's.

Thanks! I was surprised it was so clean.

Are a majority of the other games on the 60 in 1 decent? I've read different stories.

Wow... that is a beautiful machine at a terrific price. Nice catch! I am a HUGE Super Cobra fan and can't wait to get my own. Some info that you might consider: I have an iCade 60-in-1 board with Super Cobra on it. Yeah, the sound isn't exact, as someone above has said. I can live with that. However, the "continue" feature doesn't work on Super Cobra on my iCade 60-in-1 and that is a serious let-down since it forces the player back to the very beginning of the game. Maybe other multi-boards are different... I was so disappointed. Check it out before you make the investment in an adapter board, multi-board, etc. Hope this helps.
