$2499 for a Death Race??

I thought Death Races' were relatively difficult to find. From what I heard, Exidy didnt mass produce it because of the theme, or something like that.

I just noticed that the Ebay seller has some other rare stuff for sale. A couple Computer Spaces, an original Atari Pong, and an Atari Space Race.

Well in my opinion, regardless of rarity I wouldn't pay that much. Though I'm sure there's someone out there that would.

You can't put an exact price on the rarer items. What is someone willing to pay for it? Someone is likely willing to pay $2500, so that could be the price today. It's a lot different when we're talking about something that sells often, like a TZ pin, Galaga upright, restored KISS. You can look at the trend on those sale prices. Not much of a trend with the rare pieces.

If someone is looking for a Death Race that they don't have to restore, maybe they will pay the asking price. Some people collect projects because they have the skills, time and desire to work on games. Other folks will only buy fully working and restored pieces.

When we purchased our yellow Death Race a few years ago, the Ebay auction went up to $1,600 with multiple bidders. The game was not working plus the cabinet was in poor condition and needed a complete rebuild. Earlier this year there was a Death Race on Ebay in slightly worse condition and the bidding never topped $200 if I remember correctly. It all depends on the market.

I have to agree, that takes collecting to the next level not me

I would rather pay closer to $1500, but I don't think it's too far out there for a Death Race.

I have to admit you did a crazy restoration on that Yellow Death Race. Here it is when I bought it originally before selling it and then it getting resold to you.

At least 1 bidder on it now. Gary, that one you guys restored is sweet, especially after seeing the before photos just posted.

It's WAY overpriced for this cheap ass forum but not out of line for Death Race (on the higher side.) Just about anything worth owning is overpriced for 95% of KLOV.

2500 is not a lot of money, if it was shopped and tested for a few days of continuos

operation. those old black and whites are tough, but need fresh caps and clean

reliable (rebuilt ) power supplies.

The artwork on that game is BAD A$$!! Its as cool as you can get.

I played DEATH RACE when it came out for years at a local roller rink.

The big problem with rare games is getting the even rarer parts when it breaks down,

and finding some one to fix the board.

Buying online is a big gamble, and shipping is hold your breath....cross fingers etc.
