Played a 24 Pinball on my lunch break today. Had not heard anything about it. Seems like a good machine. There was some flow with a wrap around shot, lots of cool toys, the modes were understandable to a brand new player and there is a sniper shot into a narrow lane that was a real challenge.

I am not a fan of the show so would not ever purchase it because I don't like the theme, but seemed pretty decent.

I'm interested to hear what people think of it. I am looking to buy one or two pins. I am thinking about a 90s Williams and something more modern with a deeper ruleset so I am trying to seek out some newer pins.

Me no likey honestly. One or two gimmick toys and the rule set is pretty tame as well. The drop targets are interesting but as a "whole" certainly not on my list of must haves. Sorry I'd like to offer more encouragement for this title but I just can't. If you like it go for it!

Good Reply

That was why I put up the post so I could get a response from more experienced pin guys. I grew up on Black Knight, Gorgar and Jungle Lord and I am trying to get a feel for what I should expect from a good newer pinball.

I played one last year with complete LED conversion and shaker motor and thought it was a BLAST. It seemed very intense and I thought it looked fairly stunning, but I recently played at the PHOF in Vegas with regular lighting and no shaker and it was just ok. Perhaps I just like LEDs and shaker motors. It is a Steve Ritchie design with pretty good flow. I would get one for the right price although it is a bit serious in tone whereas I usually prefer more humor in my pins.

Too Serious

I think Keith's post helped me figure out what I wanted from the post. I think I was trying to use 24 as a frame of reference for what makes a pin good or bad as it is one of the few newer pinballs I have had a chance to play.

I agree about the tone of the theme. I would prefere humor any day over the presidential motorcade being attacked by terrorists. I don't think I would want to play that theme over and over but did not realize it until you mentioned the serious tone.

Never seen or played one.. they're pretty rare as they had a short production run.
Heard from a friend who played it that he liked it..

I have played 24 a fair bit. Overall a good game imo, with decent modes and good flow, good variety of shots, moderate depth. Can be little easy if you can backhand the right ramp!

There are lots of fun-themed pins around that you might like, given your preferences. In the under-$2k range, some titles come to mind like No Good Gophers, Flintstones, maybe Road Show...

24 is another one of those underrated games, IMHO. It's pretty fun. I happen to love the show, so this probably affects my opinion of the pin. It would have been better if they got Keefer to do some voice over work for the game.

I'm afraid I'm the odd one out since I think it was average. It's not the first of Ritchie's games to have the majority of the shots shoved way back (WPT comes to mind), but on this one their placement made the playfield feel empty. I don't remember there being a lot of natural "flow". It felt like I was making long shots and having the ball feed back to the rollover for the next long shot. I think he really ran with the whole sniper idea.

It was a year ago, however, when I played it and it was only during one weekend. So...
