I'm working on a crazy climber boardset. The game boots and plays great for about 3 minutes,at that point it resets.I can coin up and start a second game until it reboots, much sooner. Then it performs a few quick resets just 5-10 seconds apart with varying amounts of garbage on the screen and then locks up.I have replaced all rom sockets and this did fix a graphics glitch, but nothing on the reset.Once it locked up i felt all the chips, the 2125's were pretty warm, not hot by any means, but good and warm.
So,is there any way to test these ? Do they normally generate noticeable heat ?
Thank you for any input.

They normally run at temps up to uncomfortably warm.

I'd start by replacing the CPU chip then work RAM if it were me.

I have tried a different cpu glob from my other boardset with the same results.I have some 5101's on hand,it wouldn't be a problem to toss them on there. That is, if that is what you are referring to as work ram.The board has 5x - 2125 and 2x - 5101.

Rats,if only i had a good memory.I remembered seeing a tube of 5101's,but it turned out to be a 5101 in a tube of 5280's and 9060's.I'll need to place an order,so maybe next week i'll find out if this was it.

Thanks riptor,i have daviea looking into some for me,if that doesn't pan out i will contact you.

HAH!! Success,This did turn out to be the 5101 ram.I never did purchase any as being laid off i only get so much to play with.I dug through all my scrap boards and found some socketed ones and used them. The game boots and plays great.
Since i was out there and had this set working i figured i would break out the totally dead set i have.Powered it up,nothing..Figured i would try the test pattern by turning dip switch 4 on,powered it up and i had the game screen, crappy as the graphics were fucked up but it was there. It had 6 men and coined itself up and started a game, dam thing is haunted. The music to start is the same as my other one,but then a guy yells something and it sounds like speedy gonzalas from loony tunes, music and all, crazy.Ok i guess to make a long story short, the second boardset has issues. But i can play it,i can't play it unless dip switch 4 is on though, that's just backwards.I'm going to pull the roms and run them through romident, maybe some new sockets for this board as well.If i ever get it working i think i'll sell one set, then i can afford to hit riptor up on some 5101's .Funny that it showed signs of life this time,as i was thinking, well i got a working set,one last try and i'll sell the dead ones.I was that close to having one project off my plate.I'd like to hunt down new ribbon cables for both sets as well, mouser has 6" cables, anybody know of any 3" cables.
Ok i rambled enough, but i just had to tell somebody.

Alright!! I got both sets working.Issues with set 2 were eprom related.I set my burner up for d2732a as at a glance that what they all appeared to be.Ran them all through romident and 2 came up as unknown,i looked closer at the chips and noticed they were tms2532's instead. So i read them as 2532's and ran them through romident, they read good.So i replaced them with 2732's like the rest on the top board,2716's on bottom board all passed.Fired it up and it worked, unhooked it,flexed the interconnect cables and hooked board back up a few times and each time it worked,so no flaky cables.Played 4 games without issue.Look for them on here or ebay tomorrow, physical therapy in the mornin. They say it is better than drugs,so far i'm not seein it,i need more pills after a session than i would have had i stayed home.Looking at the big picture though, long term benefits.
