So I have a Donkey Kong using the 20EZ and when i first turn it on, there is absolutely no red. After about 10 to 20 minutes, the red just pops on. I have resoldered the neck board and that doesnt stop it. My first instinct says bad solder joint and as the pcb heats up, it makes the connection?

Any guidance would be a great help. I know electricity but far from an expert and new to this hobby so I do not know all the nomenclature yet. Thank you for taking the time to read.

i think its something still on the neckboard .
maybe a color transistor, cap or adjustment pot.

if you can, have the tube tested.

give the red circuit a good look over and touch up the solder joints.

if you hit a brick wall and need it looked at, your welcome to send it in.

if your local your welcome to bring it by and i can look at the tube for you.

update your general location and maybe a local can come by and give you a hand.

Peace

There is not a whole lot going on the main part of the board to process the video signal.
Probably a gun getting stuck on because of a tube defect or particle that needs to be shot off with a rejuvenator. Could certainly be transistor related on the neckboard or other area. Try freeze spray to see if its heat related :). Good luck.

I had a 20EZ recently that had a similar issue and it turned out to be a heat related short on one of the neckboard transistors. You can always swap around the transistor for red and blue and see if the issue replicates itself on the blue colors. But, as others said, if you have a tube tester take a look at the guns as well.
