20EZ brightness goes down then up quickly occasionally

I have a Nintendo Vs. cab, and when playing, the monitor brightness goes down really quickly for a split second then returns to normal. This happens occasionally and only for a split second. The monitor also had another problem where the screen would glitch for a split second.

So...

I replaced the flyback thinking it would fix both problems.

Well, the glitch is gone since installing the new flyback but it's still doing the brightness thing.

The B+ checks out at 108.6.

Any ideas??

You have a power issue, and the most likely culprit is the filter cap C606.

I haven't seen the chassis, worked on the chassis, or tested the chassis. The limited information given by you to me, gets my best guess.

Id place a $25 bet its not the filter cap... very likely and open trace... Intermittent connections.
split second could also be a symptom of arcing in your electron gun.

Ok ok, I should have not been all tease. I take it back.
Sincerely though I do not believe it's the filter cap...
The symptom I have seen with a low value filter cap in the sanyo is the pool or waves effect.

Well, I ordered the filter cap from Bob. I'll go over the traces when I have the chassis out.

Should I reflow solder anywhere in particular?

Everywhere! Ha, at least I would start with any header connectors and check for dry solder joints anywhere else.

I usually take the 30 or 40 minutes and reflow almost every connection when I have the chassis out, especially the Sanyo cuz it ain't easy to get out of the cabinet.

I hate these threads, because the resolution never is announced. What happened, here? I'm dying to know.

So, BUMP.

Well, since they're not talking, I'll do the talking for them. I had this issue, and was waiting to confirm this from this thread. I replaced the filter cap, and it is PERFECT now. So, yes. :)
