2025 Bronze Age Repair Club

I did do a colorized Super Bug, but my redesigned Fire Truck was still B&W. I could at least make the truck red and the text some other color. To really colorize you'd need to do new gfx and add bit planes.

So maybe copy Monte Carlo hardware since it's basically already color Super Bug (and has mono & RGB outs), add a dash of Fire truck trailer logic and build yourself a multigame with SB, FT, SJ, MC & your new maps for each of them. Superbug: Cambridge Drift.

There will be 3 people excited about this, but I'll buy one as long as it can just boot into color FT, hah.

I'd totally buy Cambridge Drift! But only if it includes lots of potholes.

And if you can get "Storrowed" that would seal the deal! Maybe by having the firetruck's ladder randomly raising and lowering whild e your driving?
Or just make it a UHaul truck option.

Various arched bridges on the path, gotta hit it right in the middle to get through ! Why hasn't this been done before?

Weren't there low tunnels later in Zaxxon?

New to group ,I have had sea wolf for many years and its down as well ,was working fine till screen started flashing and went dead ,was told main board was bad sent out for repair and still the same ,did you get yours going ? regards from AZ
We have a repair party this Sat on the west side of phx, not sure how far away you are but if you can bring either the board or the CAB we can help you. If you are interested reach out to @Arcadenut

Don't if it has been done or not, but it should be!

Who knows? With those crappy controls, I can only get into the fortress like 1 in 3 tries. And then each barrier has the same success rate.

Exponential failure rate! :dead1:

The townies walk across the road in a straight line, looking down at their phones.

The urchins dart in half way, then dart back on an angle, then continue across in random, changing directions.

What about the food trucks?

The townies curse loudly and throw things at you (getting hit slows you down).
And they should be the ones with erratic paths....they usually have a beer in hand. Their 8th one!
They're mostly harmless, unless you attack them.

The urchins steal your hub caps. And your tires if they can! (delays you)
But worse they actually steal your FUEL! (game ends if fuel runs out)
If they touch you don't let them live! Go get your stuff back! But beware....they travel in packs.

Maybe you have a third gremlin type....the Hunchback Zombie. They wander in straight lines, staring down at their phones.
You get extra points for cleaning the gene pool.

You can you refuel at gas stations. And get your (stolen/slashed) tires fixed.

Food trucks can be found at some gas stations. Grab some General Gao's Most Powerful Chicken to bump your driving stats!

While playing around with the Fire Truck design to add "color" and get rid of some expensive chips ($3 for at 74LS95 -- wtf) I found a few other errors that needed to be fixed.

I really would prefer not to make any 6800 boards, so I don't plan to fab this until I've brought up one of the other 6800 boards that I've already fabbed that were redesigned to use a 6802/6808 instead.

I don't know that I ever posted these...more Drag Race

Thought I might have to rebuild the pedal plates but got away with taking them apart and sanding/sealing the wood. Rebuilt the cherry switches and trigger arms; new T-molding; all metal de-rusted and polished; wires washed and connectors cleaned.

Also working on Death Race. The metal on these is thin and bends the first time a person steps on it. Considering welding a support bar on the bottom but that will be a PITA.

Brought this Sprint 2 back to life over the weekend.

S2.jpg

Work performed
  • Rebuilt Monitor Chassis, Tube Swap (had a dead tube, arc in neck)
  • PCB Repaired (no sounds, etc. (TDA1004s, numerous other areas. Even found a pin not soldered from factory - Thanks @toledoflyer!)
  • Edge harness repaired, couple of charred wires snapped clean from connector
  • Control Panel swap (original screen was faded)
  • Rebuilt Shifters (cleaned/lubed)
  • Rebuilt steering wheels (typical sticky residue). Cleaned surface rust on chrome, lubed and installed NOS steering shafts/wheel caps
This game is really tricky as everything comes apart/assembled in a particular order. Most likely why you see a lot of them with holes drilled through the steering wheel caps to gain access to the screws (proper way is to remove steering wheel from inside of cabinet first).

Who's the go-to for coin door locks from this era? This has a cone bezel in which the lock recesses into and would like to keep the same style if possible.
