Time to start the thread for our favorite restorations of 2012. I enjoyed the 2011 competition and hope everyone else did also. I don't want to make a bunch of rules but will edit them to this post as time goes on if someone makes a good point that something needs to be changed. Just so we don't have to keep rereading the whole thread. Also I'll post the contestants KLOV name with game submitted to this post as it progresses, once again don't have to read entire thread.

We'll do 2 catagories this year:
1st-Best total restoration of existing machine
2nd-Best conversion of a machine

As long as the restoration was completed in 2012 you can submit it.
Post pictures of your machine on this thread before and after it's restoration, you can also link your restoration documentation to the restoration showcase sub-forum.
Games must be submitted by Dec 15th, 2012, voting til Dec 30th by sending me a PM & winner announced Dec 31st, 2012.
Also want to thank Phoenix Arcade and Nixs for supplying prizes in 2011.

Gentlemen...Start Your Engines!!! Must be legal drinking age to compete ;)

What constitutes a best? Most dramatic restoration from rough to nice? Use a tools and techniques? Presentation? Attempting to teach others through documenting the project?

I'll be in with a couple for sure.

Good points, how we did it last year was people on the forum sent me a PM with their favorite restoration vote. When we vote come December, maybe we should consider who best presented their restoration.

or consider having different categories, much like a junior high annual - most likely to succeed, most friendly, best dressed, etc..

How are more people not interested in this??

It's still very early in the year, i'd imagine a lot of folks (like myself) aren't able to start on their projects until after winter. I'll hope to have a few restorations done this year - Gauntlet, Rampage, Donkey Kong and Galaga, we'll see how much I get through.

I have a bunch of projects, just waiting for warmer weather.

I'm fine if I don't come anywhere close to winning, but it gets more folks to chronicle a project. There are some really good threads here and on coinopspace. We need more of that.

I was going to hold off on my gauntlet resto thread until I was finished and could do a start-to-finish writeup, but changed my mind. Ya'll can follow my progress here.

I'll probably start up a thread for my DK restoration/de-conversion as well, since I'm kinda tackling both at the same time. edit: here's the thread for the DK restoration. Not really all that great, but it is a resto.
