What is everyone's arcade related project for the upcoming year? Any big purchases? Finished Restorations? Arcade/game room restorations?

What do you have planned for your arcade next year?

As for me i'd like to finish the 3 restoration projects i started, and build a 12x12 addition onto my garage (more room for games/workshop). I'd also like to renovate my basement/game room as i have some terrible old wood panel walls and would like to put down black light responsive carpet.

Goal - Getting my games back from the storage unit monster.

Oh hell, what DON'T I have to do? In order of priority:
  • Pump mobo may not arrive until January :( so this project may not continue until early 2012.
  • Finish cleaning out the arcade-to-be and getting everything moved into the house.
  • Die Hard cabinet... haven't even triaged the thing. I need to crack it open, fix any power issues, find out if the monitor works, and get some Silvergun going.
  • Neo Geo... everything. Recap sound section, rebuild CP, rejuvenate monitor, make those LED minimarquee lights I've been stewing on, paint touchup, and last but most, find some frickin' games already.
  • The Midway JAMMA needs some monitor work (K7000). White knob flyback and has an H-centering issue.
  • Rebuild CP on the Konami JAMMA. It may need some monitor work too -- another one that hasn't been triaged yet.
  • If I somehow manage to get all that done before next December, I'll be picking up that gutted showcase at J's place and trying to figure out how to mount an oversized CRT in it...
  • Find a decent set of switch appliances for turning games on/off. X10 is too fancy for me, I just want 2-3 boxes with a bunch of switches on the face that I plug everything into.
  • Maybe mount the Pump monitor properly? Ahahahahahaha RIGHT.

I am once again running out of room in the (g)arcade so I might have to make some crappy decisions in 2012.

I also would like to finally find some blasted pics of my childhood arcade. I can't believe I haven't been able to find a single one yet.

If I get my Elevator Action cabaret working, I'd really like to get a shrunk-down CPO printed, then re-do my CP, get the marquee light going, etc.

I have no new purchases planned for 2012. Let's see how well that works out. ;) My plan is to finish my Galaga rebuild project, then repaint / stencil my Joust. If by some miracle I get those done before fall, then I'll also put new side art and a CPO on my Crystal Castles.

My 2012 projects

- Frontline
I got the mostly empty cabinet from Anthony at QuarterArcade in the spring of 2007. I was going to make a multi out of it, but decided to get the parts to restore it. I repainted the cabinet a couple of years ago. Finally did the stencils last month (still have to clear coat). I really want to finish this project in 2012

- Clowns
I got this complete (missing lower back door) and not working in the spring of 2008. I need to fix the monitor. The boards are repaired! Need to clean, do some cabinet work, and get it all together.

I've had these games for years and I think I'll get them both done in early 2012. (Boy am I slow)

I don't have much room, but on the list for next year are the following:

Space Shuttle playfield swap - Still waiting on the PF from CPR..should be at my house early Jan I would think at this point. They're going to heroic effort to get me a perfect playfield if what I'm hearing from them is accurate. Will be a story to remember for sure, and I'll be happy to share it once everything is worked out. :)

3rd Pin - Either going to try and save the money to buy a high end pin (TSPP or LOTR), or get a virtual pin built. I have an empty cabinet I just picked up to build the virtual pin with, but it needs a good amount of prettification to be ready to function as a test rig before I go crazy and buy a TV to put in it... Also will have to store or sell my Capcom Big Blue to make room for it.

Pinbot - Will be buying the repro playfield for it, and that will necessitate a playfield swap as well. Tons of other work to do on this sucker as well, removing a *ton* of hacks that have been done to it over the years. CPR says that they're waiting on the huge inserts to get made, so probably earliest they will go out is like middle of next year? At least I will have a ton of time to get the Shuttle playfield done.

I'd like to find a stripped vertical cabinet to install my Hoccer conversion kit into. Been looking off and on for over a year to no avail. The fact that I don't have a truck anymore hurts my efforts...

Beyond that, I expect that the hobby will be put on the back burner as my daughter is due in February.

Kyle

I'm sure more will turn up...

  • Assemble fully working awesome Tron from two dead cabs: Thanks CJ. Apply new side art: Thanks Darin. Install Encom marquee: Thanks Rich.
  • Assemble fully working awesome Track & Field from two dead cabs: Thanks CJ. Apply new side art: Thanks Darin.
  • Bust my butt using my 3 weeks paid vacation from work to help a friend and fellow KLOV'er open his barcade. I see a lot more construction debris in my immediate future.
  • Replace my wife's computer so I can reclaim my MAME computer for my multi.
  • Finish painting murals on barcade basement walls.
  • Renovate stairs going to the basement barcade
  • Install stair/stairwell lighting in basement barcade
  • Purchase and install tap system in the Barcade
  • Clean and install my soda machine in the barcade
  • Not arcade related... but I would really like to finally get my boat running so I can take it out on the river when it gets nice again.
  • Continue to be fucking awesome.

Finish both Star Wars cockpits. Clean the shop so i can fit more games. Put black light carpet in the game rooms. And buy more Star Wars games. And do more bulk buys.

Looking forward to this new year! Hopefully will add a few new games to my beginning collection. :)
My plans are to tear apart my Centipede Cabaret, clean everything inside and out completely. Recap/Rebuilt Monitor, Rebuild BBC Power Supply, Clean up the wiring inside, rebuild my trackball and rebuild the CP, new CPO. And more fun. Looking forward to finishing it, as it will be my first restoration. :)
Next Project is to get my newly acquired BattleZone Working ;)
Then off to my Nintendo Red Tent ;)

Plan to finish my Pac-Man restoration in the Spring.

Also want to build a few scratch built taito cabs for my Multi-Arkanoid project and my Capcom Bowling board.

Would like to pick up at least one of the following:
  • Journey
  • Pac-Mania
  • Discs of Tron
  • Ice Cold Beer

- put Juno First back together even if i'm still short a bezel and CPO and peel the tolex off the sides to reveal the art.

- build my multi-Taito cab out of a converted Jungle Hunt.

- clean up a converted Sarge cabinet to use as a platform for Xevious 3D/G.

- figure out the shot register issues with Cheyenne then get the multi-Exidy kit installed.

I hope to:
- Deconvert and restore my Centipede
- Restencil my Sinistar
- Reassemble my Pacman
- Acquire a pin or another vid

My plans are to pick up more games. Hopefully start and finish my Joust rebuild/restoration project. Build a cab to use for spare boards. Maybe just maybe get T2 up and running...

Id love to:

Centipede mini -- Find a bezel bracket, and install a marquee light.
Galaga mini -- Fix the joystick and or find a replacement.
Monaco GP cockpit -- Find spare parts for it, just in case.
Nintendo VS -- Find more games and buy a switcher, acquire some more marquees and toppers for it.
RE Cap all monitors that need it even my spare 13"s
Gyruss -- replace the cpo, maybe get an extra board.
Galaga 88 -- buy a bezel, cpo if a good one is ever made.

Think that covers it...oh yea and more money along with room.

1.Start rebuilding vectors for people.
2.Find a Red baron.
3.Start selling off the ton of parts I got from an operator raid.
4.Learn how to use my fluke9010a
5.Keep labeling bins and getting my small components organized.
6. Fix as many games for people as I can.
