I've noticed something lately. Everybody WANTS Mad Planets these days. I have had SEVERAL people ask me if I would be willing to part with mine over the last several months. I just finished refurbishing this game late last spring, and it is currently in my arcade. There are (obviously) not very many of these machines around, and my personal unit is a VERY low serial number. Anybody know the ACTUAL production numbers? I would be surprised if it was more than 500 units. Anybody else notice this recent trend to acquire this game? Based upon what I am seeing, I predict 2011 to be the "Year of the Mad Planets"...

It's cyclical. One guy mentions buying or wanting a somewhat obscure machine, another responds positively, and suddenly that machine is the "darling" of the current era.

I have seen it happen with Warlords cocktail, Nintendo red tent, NBA Jam, TMNT, Quantum, EDOT, and quite a few others. Now, I am not saying that any of these are bad games (with the exception of DOT) but their popularity is temporarily boosted with a bit of buying fever only to return to normal at a later date.

If everything goes according to plan, the year of Mad Planets will begin in a couple of weeks for me ;)

Then I'll have to start preparing for the Summer of Sea Wolf. :)

don't know why. I have played mad planets, i thought it really sucked.

Great sound, visuals, and game pace IMHO. I almost bought a pristine one for $600.

But I think Zoo Keeper might've broken into 4-digit territory last year, and I just don't see that happening with MP...

I've been looking for one since the Summer of 2009. Played it at CAX, thought it was pretty fun myself. Started my Space Themed Outer Limits Arcade and it moved back up the priority list. Since I still can't find one locally, I decided to paint a Mad Planets-inspired mural on my wall in hopes that I will find one some day soon.

It will be for me as well. I am waiting to go pick one up as soon as I can carve out several hours for the trip. The cab is pretty hit, but it is fully working. I have another buddy locally with a cab, so it sounds like the stars...I mean Planets, will align soon!

But it is true, it is one of those games that is really hot right now. Seems like people are the same way over Moon Patrol, Zoo Keeper, Warlords cocktails, red tents, and the list goes on - I know I would like to have any of these myself!

Yep, I've noticed that happens a lot around here. Sometimes I wonder if it isn't seller-inspired. ;)

Now saying that, I'd buy a Mad Planets for $300 if one popped up locally. I remember having fun playing it BITD.

I love me some Mad Planets! I had never played it until I saw Chris Mansfield's at the last Seattle show.

I hope that James/JROK finishes his multi-board that has Made Planets, Q-Bert, etc. Awesome, awesome games and especially awesome audio.
