2011 - January - Last Call - Possible Part Outs and/or Dumped Cabinets.

Getting ready to smash an original dedicated cabinet you don't have space for? Why not offer it up for free if you can't sell it? It might be a tad more hassle then burning or dumping, but it could be of use to another collector and might actually be restored.

Thinking of parting out a machine worth more dead than alive? Please let us know that, and ask a price in between. Parting out a game is work, and it is nice to help some one else save a game if they can.

* Don't post the for sale thread here. Create a thread if you haven't already and link to it from here.

* Most importantly, after posting in this thread, please give potential saviors one at least 2 weeks (if not longer) to propose an adoption before continuing with the part out.

* Edit your message in this thread and add a comment if the game is no longer available.

* Participation in this thread is voluntary, but encouraged.

* Posts should be limited to directly to the topic at hand. I'm not looking for any political statements, arcade terrorism, or civil liberty speaches. If you can't play nice in this thread, don't post in it.

Background:

This thread is a result of an idea that has been brewing for a few months, and I thought I'd give it a try.

The idea is that (1) sometimes perfectly good games get parted out when they should (or could depending on your perspective) be saved, and (2) sometimes empty cabinets get dumped or destroyed that should or could be saved.

Sometimes a machine is perceived to be worth more dead than alive (parts worth more than the whole), or maybe a cabinet is damaged and the cost of repair might be more than the machine is worth to many (but not all) collectors. That's ok, as someone might be interested in the machine anyway, especially if its rare or historic.

There are so many threads in this forum section that occasionally some 'last call' posts get missed by potential game saviors.

Thanks for making this thread, Greg! ;)

I'm probably the ONLY person on here who caught what "NERDTindo" is offering up. Unless that is a dreamcast or Gamecube in that Nintendo cabinet, the board set in that cabinet is worth at LEAST $700!... Cute

Edit: I didn't look at the first pic closely. Looks like it DOES have a Gamecube installed as predicted...

... New alterations not included of course...just the cab.

I DID see that in his post, but until i realized that is was a Gamecube hooked up in the cabinet, i thought he was doing it as a tease to get a response...

Hey why not make this thread its own section, like a WTB, FS, Ebay/Auction/Other. This way it doesnt become a 1,000 post thread with tons of deals going in and out. I think it would be really confusing/tough to find what is still available. Just a suggestion :)

Let's see how much message volume there is. Currently the plan is to swap the thread out monthly. This one is for January 2011.

come and get it

killer comet , so at least i think i only sanded a bit on the front and found some art work so i can only go off that. it came in a lot that i got years ago. i think it still has the coin mech in it. i'll pull it from our shop and bring it home. i have to make some more space there anyway. the guys in the shop seem to think i'm a hoarder,my wife also believes these hanous accusations. its not like they are make anymore of these so, they are hard for me to just trash. i mean it is one less of the originals before just a bunch of cookie cutter cabnets. but as much as it pains me you know what happens if you don't make the wife happy. i'll bring it home today and mabe some other cabs or parts and get some pics up. i'll keep this stuff for a few weeks then . . . ok who am i kidding they'll sit in my garage for the next 10 years. SO HELP ME !

Just saw this and thought Id throw the toobin up that ive been trying to sell for months. It will need a cap kit soon I know that. $250 bucks. PM if you want more info. Im pretty sure this game is worth more in parts than whole at least in Colorado but as much as I hate it I dont wanna part it.

Yes you are correct, it is February already.

I received a PM this morning thanking me for this thread and saying that the write adopted the Springer cabinet offered up in it. That reminded me we needed a Feb thread:

http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=170549

All new machines offered should be posted in the February thread, though posts can be made here of machines already discussed. Probably in mid-February I'll unstick this thread.

yep, i was contacted about the Springer cabinet and it looks like someone will be coming to take it eventually and give it new life. i really hate to trash such a rare cabinet so i'll hang on to it for a while longer until it can go to its new home.

Oops, didn't notice these went month to month. Reposted in current month (I have an Outrun in MN, it works, steering is a little sticky but it works and is 100% playable. Last call $100)
