2004 Golden Tee Fore Series Update to Add to WCB Questions

I was hoping someone could give me the specifics on what is required to update my 2004 GT Fore Red board to add World Class Bowling deluxe. I am in the process of getting a WCB unit and was hoping to remove the internals to add it to my GT cabinet so I could run both games in one cabinet. I have read many threads that talk about this issue, however I have not seen one that talks about adding WCB to a newer GT Fore series icabinet. I was planning on getting Mike's 2-to-1 Jamma switcher since that seems to be the most recommended switcher on this forum. My questions are as follows though:

1.) Do I need to have two power supplies, one for my 04' GT Fore and one for the WCB, since I believe the Fore series tend to be a little power hungry?
2.) What wiring modifications if any do I need to make for the trackball, since I believe the configuration is slightly different in the WCB cabinet and Fore series cabinet?
3.) Are there any other modifications that I have to make that I am unaware of?
4.) Are there any other components besides the 2-to-1 Jamma switcher that I need to order to make this work (i.e. Trackball harness splitter, etc)?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm no expert on this by any means, but the main weird thing about ITs games is that they are powered by connectors from the power supply like a PC and not through the JAMMA harness.

There is a spare power tail for a CDROM drive to update the boards, but I'm not sure if the supply is powerful enough to power both boards all the time... You might need to rig up some kind of physical switch to power the drive and board you want to use.

You will need an extra pcb to trackball harness. somehow you will need to switch the trackball from one game to another, you could possibly connect the trackball to both boards and only put power to one board at a time.

You will need a 2-1 jamma switcher and a y harness for the trackball to split the signal wires to both boards. You might need to install diodes on the trackball signal wires.

The trackball splitter harness doesn't need diodes the connections will not interfere with eachother. You need a switcher, I suggest Mike's not the Chinese ones. I use the cheapos for other setups, but I spent the money for Mike's on my GT2004/WCB. I also used 2 seperate power supplies, one through the jamma harness for WCB and one directly to the GT board. It can be done with 1 but I like to keep them seperate, besides they may need different voltage adjustments. I know there are several people on here who have done this setup various ways.

Also its been a while but I believe the trackball pinout is the same on both, do you have the manuals, they are easy enough to find online.

Thanks alot, you guys have been very helpful. I was planning on running to power supplies, because I am picking up at complete WCB cabinet and was planning on removing all the wiring, power supply, and boards. I have a few more questions.

1.) With the two power supply setup, do you have one switch in the back of cabinet that turns both power supplies on? I guess what I really want to know is whether both boards are recieving power regardless of which game you are playing or is only one board on at a time?
2.) Mike's webpage says the switcher works by pressing the Player 1 & 2 buttons simultaneously, however GT doesn't have a Player 1 and 2 button only a Start button, so how does it switch between games?
3.) I assume I would need to get a Trackball "Y" splitter harness so I can run the trackball to both boards, right?

Thanks again for all your help, excited to get my WCB game later this week and begin disassebling it.

In reply to you pm, with 2 power supplies just tap the 110v from the existing power supply, both boards will be powered up at the same time. I have a GT green board, and just bought some 4 pin connectors from radio shack and wired them up to a standard power supply rather then buying a atx power supply (Red board may require more power, not sure). Mike's switcher can use the start buttons, or you can wire a button to it, I added a dedicated button to the control panel for switching. And yes the splitter just splits the wires into 2 sets, one for each board.... I can not remember who sells the splitters though. Also on mine I put WCB in the main harness and GT in the aux harness, and then cut all the power wires going to the aux harness, so there is no power feed going to the jamma connector of the GT. Even with one power supply Mike's is designed to power both boards at the same time, it just switches the I/O's.
