$200 non-working Ms Pacman cocktail on Central Mich CL

THREADJACK ALERT

Anyone in Kzoo interested in checking out my BattleTech cockpits?

I am taking them to a convention (GenCon) next week, but late Aug I'm having an event in South Haven.

After that, I hope to have open free events at my house in my 'game building' to help us get through the winter.

This one got re-listed Saturday just before noon. I couldn't resist this time and sent an email, but never got an email or phone call back. The ad is still up as of this evening. Anyone grab this?

Yep, I picked this up last night. I'm generally not a big fan of cocktails but Ms. Pac Man is an exception and I'm pretty geeked to get one. Overall decent shape - as stated in the ad he recently did a cap kit & replaced the flyback. The monitor glows and speaker makes a loud humming noise but doesn't seem to play blind or make any "crediting up" noise. He says he tested the power supply and it's getting the proper voltage. There are some random wires soldered to the board near where the harness attaches, not sure if this is common or not. Sounded like the monitor was initially not doing a whole lot and by the time he went through all of that and it still didn't power up he was ready to wash his hands of the project. All things considered I feel like I ended up with a pretty solid deal.

Out of curiosity if anyone knows - I have a Galaga upright; am I able to try the Ms. Pac board in there, or alternately, could I test the Galaga board in the cocktail in an attempt to determine if it's the board as opposed to the harness or something else without messing anything up?

You cant plug the ms pac into the galaga harness.. Pinouts are different, and powersupplys are different. Get a schematic, make sure your getting +5 on the board in the correct places, reseat all the chips, etc..

Thanks... Yeah, first thing I did was reseat the chips, checked for loose/proper connections, downloaded the manual and schematics but hadn't had time to investigate further than that. Appreciate the info about the power supply and pinouts!

Congrats on the score. It sounds like someone might have bypassed some of the wires going into the edge connector which isn't too uncommon. How does the pcb's card edge look? You may want to consider replacing the edge connector if it's original because they weren't the best to begin with and over time the pcb's edge connector can burn up causing poor connections. Also the fuse block is a common item needing replacement. Also just a note regarding the power supply....Pac and Ms Pac take AC voltage into the board and then regulate it to +5 on the board itself. As mcandrewsoun said you'd want to check your +5 so you'd need to do it somewhere on the board like across one of the 74000 TTLC chips. There may be an easier place to check, but 9 times out of 10 that's where I check on any game now.
