Woohoo, guy said there was a display error with it, got there, plugged it in once, got grey screen and some screeching. Unplugged and plugged it back in, BAM, all working. Was already going to buy it with the error as it was playable, just showing some text in the wrong spot. No big deal for me.

It got jolted pretty good in the back of my Rav4 when I had to make a loop turnaround to switch freeways. Not sure if the color issue at the top of the screen is due to that or not, but I'm guessing it's just some convergence wierdness. Color on the bottom 80% of the screen is good.

I got the manual and schematics with it, in good condition, but will have to drill the lock. I've never owned a cocktail before, so to pick up Galaga, which is a grail game for me, working, at 200$..I'm totally stoked.

It's been a good week...Stargate pinball and Galaga cocktail. :)

Cool deal! My guess from the photo is that it needs to be degaussed (the ever-present bane of the cocktail owner).

Woohoo! That was my second guess. I don't have a good way to do it at the moment, but at least that's a simple fix. :)

To degauss: turn the cab off, then put it where you want it, then leave it off sitting there for more than 30 minutes. Make sure the table is closed. Turn it back on, and the degauss circuit should kick in and clear up the screen for ya.

If that showed up on my local CL, I'd be all over it. It's in really good shape, look at those overlays! No peel or discoloration!

If the monitor auto-degauss doesn't work for you, you can buy one or make one yourself.

I have seen a couple of the text in the wrong spot as well as other related issues on Galaga. What I have found is especially if the text is simply showing up on the side of the screen when it's not supposed to it is a 5VDC logic adjustment and you are good to go. This would also explain the finicky behavior of the system alarming first then rebooting fine.

SSSSWWWWEEEEETTTT Find!

Nice score.. Glad he didnt jack the price when it came up working.. My basic rule on a cheap deals like that. If the cabinet in in good shape and complete, and they say its not working. Dont even plug it in until you get home.. Prices usually go up in this situation..

Congrads on a great CT.. :)

Agreed. Also, congrats on the great find!

Really nice score! Looks in great shape! Love that game, hope to add it to my games list someday.
Looks like your little guys loving it!

Going to rain on the parade a (bit)....

Just got back in. The guy has had it for 12+ years in a lake house. The last time they had looked at it, he said they replaced the monitor (Looks like it to me..the thing is crystal clear and if there's any burn I don't see it...but hard to tell with galaga. I don't tend to focus on the score part of the screen.), the control panel overlays (repro or NOS 12 years ago? I'm betting was probably NOS?), the top glass (Looks alright, but there's some scratching there..), and the paper underlay (looks fine, but isn't fit on there entirely correctly..).

So yeah...I'm not sure how much of the machine is either NOS parts or repro...could be all of that stuff was replaced 12 years ago with repro, and I don't have enough of a trained eye to tell.

I do know it's set on freeplay, and it's got auto-fire by holding down the button. Are those standard features available via jumper? I thought auto-fire was an add-in with a small PCB mod.

That's exactly what he said was happenning and what the screenshot he sent me was showing... 1UP <SCORE> right down the side of the screen, and some of the attract mode text was gibberish, but all other graphics/sprites were fine. Guessing that adjustment got whatcked back into place while he was moving it around his garage. :)
