Friend has a Nintendo cocktail was a Popeye looks like but has DK in it now.

The 20ez looks great with lights out ,very clear and vibrant but looks dim with lights on.

Obviously he needs to degauss.
Im Not very familiar with adjusting monitors in cocktails or ez20's

You will probably find this page helpful:

Easy thing to do first is color and white balance the monitor.

If that doesn't work, then I would be testing the tube's emissions on my rejuvenator.

Of course, caps are going to always be suggested, if that hasn't been done.

All that being said, how "bright" a tube looks in a room with the lights on is somewhat subjective. It's going to always be harder for a cocktail monitor to look "bright" because it's always facing upwards towards the ceiling light.

Pulled monitor out adjusted the sub bright pot on the board for a spectacular picture.
Now when ai put it back in the cab got a wicked magnetic gauss issue. This cab was originally a Popeye that was converted.

The iso transformer was the metal shielding plates on it. Haven't tried a degausing ring yet but you can see it change as you lower it into cocktail with it on and running.

Next move.?

Did you check if the degaussing circuit is working? Don't think the monitor becoming gaussed after moving it a bit is that unusual if it's not.

The monitor should be degaussing itself each time you turn it on. If not, then you might have something wrong with the degaussing circuit.

Have you tried turning the game on and off a couple times while the monitor is already installed in the game?

Yes I have . When I fired it up outside the cocktail sitting in upright position it degauss from when it was in the cocktail originally so seems it's working but I'll pull it out and put the dmm on it.

Don't have a degaus ring but guess I could try the power drill trick.

The picture is as good as you could ask for outside the cocktail.

Have half a mind to just transfer it to my empty DK cab but I really would n like to have a cocktail. Other thing I noticed is it isn't swapping back and forth between one and two player.

Was a 19inch ez20 standardized a Popeye?

4 screws for monitor was kissing so IDK if this was original monitor. Burn free -
If somebody tried to put a 19 in a 13 I'd assume that might cause issues with the speakers and such. Looks like it all fit right though.

The little amount it gets degaussed when you turn it on is really minimal and won't generally fix larger issues.

For larger degauss issues, you need a degauss ring.

Something you could try for your amusement is to rotate the physical game just to see if it helps. Often there is an orientation that is perfect, since it depends how the game is aligning with the Earth's magnetic field, but still you'll need a degauss ring unless you want to leave it in that orientation.

Well let it sit over night in the cocktail and fired it up and almost all back to normal!

Teenie Lil bit. Gonna make another degaussing ring out of old monitor coil.

What's best kinda trigger switch for that?

You want a momentary switch.

You don't want it to be on too long, a second or 2 max as you swirl it around.
