2 Weeks, 2 Minty Nin-tease Complete

Very nice work as always.

Shame you aren't closer I have a PO that needs a resto that I am looking to sell soon.

Phet, its nice to see you building that Nintendo row back up again. I'm just a little jealous that you finished them up 2 weeks AFTER I stopped by your place. :) It would have been nice to see the minty Mario Bros in person. I still speechless at the quality of work you do. Although the pictures are beautiful they almost don't do your work justice. If only everyone can see them in person...

Hey thanks Jerimiah. They'll all be done for your next visit. I am pretty sure if most of these guys saw them in person they would just nitpick them to death. I love them, but they are never really flawless, which suits me just fine. I am stoked to get going on my 2nd dkjr. I love that game.

Great work! The larger NOS side art looks much better.

No doubt. Let that be a lesson to you all. Make sure you give the repro guys the actual printed dimensions of the original artwork. Just cuz they download and print a file from localarcade (that looks correct on the screen), doesn't mean they will print it out the right size, especially when they don't have the original stuff to compare it to. It was a costly mistake. On the other hand, the thing I dislike about NOS artwork is the edge peeling, adhesive degeneration and crinkles that can occur due to time and storage techniques.

did you do anything specific to tackle the degeneration of the adhesive? I'm applying some NOS side art next spring, but I can already tell the adhesive has dried up on some areas. I've been told it's a "bad" practice to add spray mount...WWPD (what would Phet do)

I just applied it, then taped the edges, most held after 3 days of tape pressure, but the edges that still popped may be receiving a visit from the low setting on my heat gun.

Doesn't that add extra height? Or can you smash the edge down flat?

It did add a tiny bit of height but it wasn't really noticeable. I think the tape is about a 1/4" wide so the flap your sticking down needs to be a little wider then that. I added it to the backside of the sideart flap as close to the edge as I could then smushed it down. If you only have a tiny bit on the very edge lifting it might be better to use something else.

Anyone else have a good glue product thats easy to brush on and not messy?

Take a VERY FINE glue, like super fine super glue (can be purchased at Michael's or other hobby stores) and use a syringe to apply a tiny dab to the inside of the area that you are trying to glue down.

This will allow you to use a very tiny amount of glue and apply it directly to the area in need. Use less than you think you will need to hold it down as the glue will spread as you press the sideart down. If any squeezes out, remove immediately.
