2-Player Computer Space MAME'd

What's done is done. But that cab will probably get more playtime now than if it was a working Computer Space.

Looks OK to me. It was never gonna be a CS again anyway and, should he be persuaded, it can be converted back very easily. Don't see any issue with that.
He even tried to stay true to the era.

you know, i have to say, now that i've finally played one, that pic is just depressing. CS is such a fun game. having the timer is actually fun, as you just get to keep playing, which is kind of nice, cause otherwise i suck so bad at it my game would be over quick.

This particular picture is NOT the Computer Space posted on byoac. The thread is about as edgey as byoac gets, nearing klov drama. Some people like it, some don't. First thing I noticed is that the control panel looks very uncomforable and has 8 liner buttons and not arcade buttons. The trackball leaves almost no space for your hand to rest on the control panel. It looks borderline unplayable to me.
The hyperspin FE is kinda nice. If someone gave the OP all the computer space parts he said he needed to "restore" this cabinet, I am certain he would have mamed and sold it anyways...Much more detail here:

Maybe he would have but I don't care because, as far as I can tell, he didn't do anything to harm the cabinet. Consequently, when the day comes that he no longer wants it, perhaps the person with all those CS parts can get it and put it all back together again.

For now, it's in a climate controlled home and somewhat protected. That's better than the fate of many other classic cabinets. I know where there were at least 3 sit down Atari NIght Drivers... in an outbuilding that had the roof cave in during a Minnesota winter. Did the guy do anything about the debris on them, or the fact that they were exposed to the weather?
Nope.

I appreciate they are not as rare or desireable as a CS, but they are increasingly uncommon and I know of the slow, painful demise of 3 of them.

props for not damaging it but still, what a stupid, stupid thing. couldve sold it or traded it for a way better mame candidate. just because you can do something doesnt mean you should.
